Goals improve the onboarding experience by allowing hiring managers to set measurable and attainable growth-related objectives for their new hires. This creates stronger alignment between managers and new hires by defining what success looks like in the critical 30-day onboarding period.
Greenhouse Onboarding provides three core emails that your organization can set up to remind hiring managers to create 30 day goals and remind new hires to complete their 30 day goals. Managers and new hires will also receive automatic notifications for the following actions:
- A manager shares newly created onboarding goals with their new hire
- A new hire changes the status of a goal to "Needs help"
Turn on email notifications to help managers and new hires stay on top of their goals.
Note: 30 day goals emails are turned off by default in Settings. Activate your new hire goals emails to notify hiring managers when it's time to create goals for their new hires!

Introduction to new hire onboarding goals
Once a manager has created and saved onboarding goals, they can click Share as email to notify a new hire that their onboarding goals are now available.
Note: This email isn't configurable in Settings. Managers will need to click Share as email from the 30 day goals tab of their new hire's profile to send this notification manually.
New hires will receive this email 24 hours before their start date.
Reminder to update goal status
The Reminder to update goal status email reminds new hires to update the status of their assigned onboarding goals. These notifications need to be turned on in Settings.
This email is sent to new hires 14 days and 30 days after their start date. The new hire's manager will also be copied on this email.
New hire is blocked
If a new hire is blocked on one of their assigned goals, they can change their goal's status to Need help and add a note to provide details. This will automatically send a notification to alert their manager.
Note: This email isn't configurable in Settings. Managers will receive this notification any time their new hires change a goal's status to Need help.
