Smart candidate search is a Voice AI feature that lets your hiring team ask questions about candidates in plain language. Instead of opening each candidate one by one, you can type a question and Voice AI searches across your interviewed candidates to surface the information you're looking for.
What smart candidate search searches
Smart candidate search looks across the information Voice AI has for candidates who've completed a Voice AI interview, including:
- Candidate profiles
- Resumes
- Interview transcripts
You can use it to ask a question about a single candidate, find something specific in an interview transcript, or search across all of your candidates by skills, answers, or other criteria.
Search your candidates
To search your candidates in Voice AI, select Candidates from the left-hand menu, then Ask about candidates at the top.
Enter your question in the search bar and click Search. The candidates who best match your question appear in the results. Each result includes:
- The candidate’s interview status
- Their cheat detection score
- A summary of how their qualifications match your question
Smart candidate search surfaces information from candidate records so your team can review it. Use the results as a starting point, then open the candidate's interview results to see the full transcript and evaluation. For more information, see Review Voice AI interview results.
Smart candidate search helps your team find information — it doesn't make hiring decisions. Recruiters and hiring managers remain responsible for evaluating candidates.
Write effective questions
Ask your question the way you'd ask a colleague. The more specific the question, the more focused the results. For example:
- Who has Python experience and worked at a startup?
- Who has experience in HIPAA compliance?
- Which candidates mentioned team leadership?
Tip: Combine a skill with a type of experience — for example, a technology and an industry — to narrow your results to the candidates who match both.
