Dice's integration with Greenhouse Recruiting allows users to automatically advertise Greenhouse jobs on Dice, receive Dice applicants directly into their Greenhouse candidate database, and automatically source matched Dice candidates as prospects on Greenhouse jobs.
The Dice integration includes three workflows:
- Easy Post publishes jobs from your Greenhouse career portal to Dice
- Easy Apply feeds candidate applications from Dice into Greenhouse
- Easy Source automatically sources and submits relevant Dice candidates to your Greenhouse jobs
Configure the Dice integration
Prerequisites
- An active Dice account with the Dice integration enabled. Contact your Dice Client Success Professional to confirm.
- A Greenhouse Recruiting subscription on the Core, Plus, or Pro tier.
- Site Admin permissions in Greenhouse to authorize the connection in Step 1.
- Permission to manage and configure webhooks to complete Step 2. This is available to Basic and above, so Step 2 may be completed by a different user than Step 1.
- Your Dice Client Success Professional provides the connection link, webhook endpoint URL, and webhook secret key used during setup.
Connect Greenhouse and Dice
Your Dice Client Success Professional generates a connection link for your organization and sends it to you. The link is valid for two hours. If it expires before you finish, request a new one.
Open the link. Greenhouse displays the permissions the Dice integration is requesting.
Enter your email address and click Log in to Greenhouse, then sign in with your Greenhouse credentials. You must sign in as a Site Admin.
After logging in, the permissions appear again along with an authorization checkbox. Select Authorize using a service account. This creates an organization-level service account that owns the connection, so the integration continues to run independently of any individual user account. This option appears only when the authorizing user is a Site Admin.
Click Authorize.
Dice confirms that the connection succeeded. If you see a failure message instead, contact your Dice Client Success Professional for a new link.

To review or revoke the connection later, click the Configure icon, then Dev Center, then Connected integrations.

Note: The only job data the integration modifies is the job's Notes field, which is appended to when Easy Source cannot find candidates. See How Dice maps data with Greenhouse below for the full list of fields Dice writes.
Create webhooks for the Dice integration
The Dice integration requires six webhooks so that Dice receives signals to post jobs and pipeline prospective candidates.
Click the Configure icon on your navigation bar, then click Dev Center on the left. Click Web Hooks, then Web Hooks again.
On the Create a New Web Hook page, create each of the following. Your Dice Client Success Professional provides the endpoint URL and secret key, which are the same for all six webhooks.

Click Create Web Hook after each one.
Note: When you save a webhook, Greenhouse pings the endpoint to verify the connection. If the ping fails, the webhook is created in a disabled state. If this happens, confirm the endpoint URL and secret key with your Dice Client Success Professional, then re-enable the webhook.

Create custom job fields for the Dice integration
The Dice integration uses custom job fields to determine which jobs to publish and which candidates to source.
Click the Configure icon, then Custom Options on the left. Click Jobs under Company Custom Fields, then click Add Field.
After you save each field, Greenhouse generates an Immutable Field Key at the bottom of the page. Copy each key. You will provide them to your Dice Client Success Professional in Step 5.
Note: Field type cannot be changed after a field is created.
Dice Easy Source
- Field name: Dice Easy Source
- Description: Allows Dice Easy Source to automatically prospect the most relevant candidates from Dice.com directly to your Greenhouse Recruiting job.
- Field type: Yes / No
Dice Easy Source: Required Skills & Keywords
- Field name: Dice Easy Source: Required Skills & Keywords
- Description: A comma-separated list of required keywords for Dice Easy Source. Filters out prospects who do not have all the listed keywords in their profile resume. To specify variations of a skill or keyword, put them in parentheses with OR between each.
- Field type: Short textbox
Employment Type (if applicable)
Most organizations already use an Employment Type field that designates the type of employment for a job. Your Dice Client Success Professional will map your values to Dice's employment type filters. Multiple Greenhouse values can map to a single Dice value, and a single Greenhouse value can map to multiple Dice values.
- Field type: Single select
Provide the immutable field key and your value mapping to your Dice Client Success Professional.
Job Board Work Setting (optional)
To be able to specify whether a job is remote, on-site, or hybrid, you must create a custom field for Dice or any other integration partner to use. The Greenhouse API currently does not support the standard work setting within the application, so a custom field must be used to pass this to an external job board.
- Description: Declare whether the job work setting is Remote, On-Site, or Hybrid for external job boards to advertise this information to candidates viewing and applying to jobs. Dice will default to On-site if a work setting is not specified.

Salary (if applicable)
If your organization uses a salary or pay range field and you want the Dice integration to filter sourced candidates against it, provide that field's immutable key to your Dice Client Success Professional.

Post To Dice (optional)
By default, Dice publishes jobs that are posted externally on your Greenhouse job board. If you want more control over which jobs are published to Dice, create this field as a secondary filter.
- Field name: Post To Dice
- Description: Controls whether the posted job is published on Dice. If set to No, the job will not be published, or will be unpublished from Dice.
- Field type: Yes / No
Note: Post To Dice is the simplest way to control which jobs are published, but it is not the only option. Dice can build posting rules from any field available in your job details. Discuss your requirements with your Dice Client Success Professional.
Create a custom source for the Dice integration
Prospects imported by the Dice integration are attributed to a custom source so you can report on them separately.
Click the Configure icon, then Custom Options. Click Sources under Company Metadata, then click Create New Source.

Provide your configuration to Dice
Once Steps 1 through 4 are complete, provide the following to your Dice Client Success Professional. Your Dice Client Success Professional will review this with you during your kickoff call.

General configuration
- Employment type mapping. Which Greenhouse employment type values Dice should advertise as Full-time, Part-time, and Contract. For contract roles, indicate which values map to Contract 1099, Contract W2, and Contract Corp to Corp.
- Organization name. Dice uses this to connect the integration to the correct Greenhouse instance. Find it by clicking the Configure icon, then Organization.
Easy Post configuration
- Default job posting recruiter. An email address. This is the fallback recruiter attached to the Dice job when the recruiter on the Greenhouse hiring team is not a current Dice user.
- Apply type. Offsite redirect or onsite Easy Apply. Easy Apply is required for the Easy Apply workflow.
- Job board URL ID. Required if you are not using Easy Apply. Click the Configure icon, select Job Boards & Posts, click the ellipsis icon, select Edit Board Settings, and copy the value after boards.greenhouse.io/.
- Job board Dice tracking link. Required if you are not using Easy Apply. Click the Configure icon, select Job Boards & Posts, click the ellipsis icon next to your job board, select Tracking Link, click Select a source, choose Dice under Third Party Board, then click Create Link.
Easy Source configuration
- Days last active. A number. Filters out prospects who have not been active on Dice within that many days. For example, 90 limits results to people active in the last 90 days.
- Exclude third party. True or false. When true, filters out prospects represented by a third-party agency.
- Require phone number. True or false. When true, filters out profiles without a phone number.
- Maximum prospects per job. A number. Determines how many profiles are sourced per job.
- Match score threshold. A number from 1 to 5 indicating the minimum match level a prospect must meet before being submitted to the job. 5 is an excellent match, 4 great, 3 good, 2 fair, 1 poor.
After you submit this information, Dice sends a Dice API user registration email so you can connect your Dice API user to the Easy Source integration.

Publish a job that meets your criteria
Confirm the job has valid values for the field criteria you configured during setup.
Publish the job in Greenhouse.
Wait 15 minutes.
You should see the job published on Dice, an email notification sent to the publishing recruiter, and job details on Dice that match the Greenhouse job.
Publish a job that does not meet your criteria
Set a job to have values that fall outside your configured criteria.
Publish the job in Greenhouse.
Wait 15 minutes.
The job should not appear on Dice.
Verify Easy Apply
Apply with a new Dice profile
Create a Dice profile using an email address and phone number that do not exist in your Greenhouse candidate database.
Find one of your published jobs on Dice and apply to it.
Wait 15 minutes.
You should see a new candidate profile in Greenhouse, set to your configured candidate status and attached to the job in your expected submission status.
Apply again with the same profile
Using the same Dice profile, find a second published job on Dice and apply to it.
Wait 15 minutes.
You should see a new resume attached to the existing Greenhouse candidate rather than a duplicate profile, and the candidate attached to the second job.
Verify Easy Source
Enable Easy Source on a job
Open a job in Greenhouse with a status of Open.
Enter values in Dice Easy Source: Required Skills & Keywords.
Set Dice Easy Source to Yes.
Wait up to one hour. Easy Source runs on 60-minute intervals.
You should see prospects added to the job on your job dashboard, attributed to Dice Easy Source.
Confirm prospect backfill
Open a prospect added by Easy Source.
Either stop considering the prospect or convert them to a candidate.
Wait up to one hour.
You should see a replacement prospect added to the job.
Use the Dice integration with Greenhouse Recruiting
Easy Post
Easy Post takes jobs from your Greenhouse job board and advertises them to technologists on Dice. You control which jobs are published using the field criteria configured during setup, and Dice manages your job slots so your most recent postings stay visible.
Publishing a job
Publish a job to your Greenhouse job board as you normally would. Dice checks your job board every 15 minutes and picks up new and updated posts. Jobs unpublished since the last check are picked up for removal from Dice.
Before publishing, Dice validates each job:
Does the job meet the criteria you configured during setup? If not, it is not published to Dice.
Does the job have all data elements Dice requires? If not, it is not published to Dice.
Does the job already exist on Dice? If so, Dice updates the existing posting rather than creating a new one.
Do you have an available job slot? If so, Dice publishes the job. If not, Dice inactivates your oldest posting to make room for the new one.
How the job appears on Dice
Dice attaches the job to the recruiter's Dice profile by matching the job owner's Greenhouse email address to a Dice recruiter account. If no matching Dice account exists, the job is attached to the default recruiter you configured during setup.
Unpublishing and expiry
Jobs unpublished from your Greenhouse job board are removed from Dice.
Dice postings expire after 30 days. If a job is updated in Greenhouse, the 30 day period restarts from the date of that update.
Job slot management
If you have purchased job slots from Dice, Easy Post keeps your most recent postings live. When you are at your slot limit and publish a new job, Dice inactivates your oldest posting to make room. You do not need to manage this manually.
Recruiter confirmation email
When a job goes live on Dice, the recruiter receives a confirmation email with a link to view the posting as a technologist sees it. Recruiters with access to the Dice resume database also receive a link to a saved talent search related to the job.
Easy Apply
Easy Apply feeds Dice applicants into your Greenhouse candidate database and submits them to the job they applied to, without creating duplicate profiles.
Set the application method to On Dice
Easy Apply requires jobs to be posted with the On Dice application method. Technologists see this as Easy Apply, which lets them apply in a few clicks.
- If you post jobs directly in the Dice interface, select On Dice as the application method.
- If you post jobs through the Dice job posting bot, ask your Dice Client Success Professional to configure On Dice as the application method during setup.
When a candidate applies
Technologists see an Easy Apply option on your job. Within about two minutes of submitting, Dice gathers the candidate's profile and sends it to Greenhouse.
Dice first checks whether the candidate already exists in your database from a previous Dice application. If they do, Dice adds a new resume for the job they just applied to rather than creating a second profile. If they do not, Dice creates a candidate profile with their contact information, work history, and resume.
Application notes
Dice adds a note to the candidate profile for each job they apply to, so recruiters can see the candidate's history at a glance. Each note includes a Dice match assessment for that job and is tagged to the candidate, the job, and the job contact.
Easy Source
Easy Source finds relevant technologists on Dice and adds them to your Greenhouse job as prospects.
Turn on Easy Source for a job
Set the Dice Easy Source field to Yes in the job information for any job with a status of Open. Easy Source returns prospects within two to seven minutes.
Fields Easy Source uses
Easy Source builds its search from the following fields, so the quality of these values determines the quality of your results.

Required Skills & Keywords syntax. Comma-separated values are treated as AND. To allow variations of a skill, put them in parentheses with OR between each. For example, (Java OR C++), (AWS OR Azure), DBA returns prospects with Java or C++ experience, and AWS or Azure experience, and DBA experience.
Employment Type. Setting Employment Type narrows results to prospects open to that kind of work. For example, setting it to Contract filters out prospects who are not open to contract engagements.
The number of prospects returned per job is configured with your Dice Client Success Professional, so your database is filled only with recent, relevant candidates.
Working with prospects
Prospects added by Easy Source appear in Greenhouse in two places.
All Candidates search. Set the Application Type filter to Prospects to search everyone Easy Source has added.
Job dashboard. Easy Source prospects appear as Current Prospects on the job. Selecting Current Prospects opens a candidate search filtered to that job.
Prospects backfill
When you convert a prospect to a candidate or stop considering them, Easy Source finds the next most relevant prospect and adds them to the job automatically, keeping the job stocked without manual effort.
How Easy Apply and Easy Source work together
If you use both workflows, they are designed to avoid duplicate work. When Easy Source has already added someone as a prospect and that person later applies through Dice, the integration does not create a second profile or submission. It updates the submission source and adds an application note to the existing profile, so recruiters can see that a sourced prospect has now applied.
