Custom application questions allow your organization to request custom information from candidates when they are applying to your job. Candidate responses to custom application questions can subsequently be viewed in application review and various reports.
Private custom application questions are only visible to users with approved permissions, and they can help to request confidential information from candidates.
Private custom application questions overview
Each custom application question can be configured to meet the privacy needs of your organization. Custom application questions can be configured with one of the following privacy settings:
- Standard
- Private
- API only
Candidate responses to private custom application questions can only be viewed by:
- Site Admins with the user-specific permission Can see private notes, salary info, manage offers, and approve jobs/offers, or
- Job Admins with the permission stripe Can view and edit private candidate and application fields
Users without the permissions above would see the private question on a candidate's profile, but cannot view the candidate's response.
Note: Private custom application questions are not included in a candidate export from the All Candidates tab, but are included in Business Intelligence Connector.
Add private custom application question
To add a private custom application question to an existing job post, click Jobs from the navigation bar and select a job from the subsequent list > Click Job Setup and navigate to Job Posts > Navigate to a job post and click the Edit icon 
next to the job post name.
Scroll to Custom Application Questions and click Add Custom Question. From the subsequent box, input the text for the custom application question. Select Private from the Privacy section.
Click Add when finished.
Note: If the custom application question is linked to a custom candidate field or custom application field, responses inherit the privacy settings of those fields.
The private custom application question is added to your list of custom application questions for the job post.
Click Save to confirm the change.
