HireHunch is primarily an 'Interview As a Service' company. We help companies to do the initial round of technical interviews so that their core engineering/product team only speaks to the best of the lot. Currently, we are focused mostly on all software engineering functions along with Product and UI/UX.
Greenhouse Recruiting’s integration with HireHunch allows recruiters to schedule technical interviews with external interviewers directly from Greenhouse
The Greenhouse integration with HireHunch only needs to be configured by one user from your company, however, all users should download the HireHunch Chrome Extension.
Create a Harvest API key for the HireHunch integration
To configure the Greenhouse Recruiting / HireHunch integration, you'll need to create a Harvest API key.
Follow the steps in this article to create the key, and verify that the credentials and permissions below are selected when configuring the HireHunch integration.
Credentials
In the Create New Credential box, make the following selections:
- API type: Harvest
- Partner: HireHunch (optional)
- Description: HireHunch Harvest API key
Permissions
Verify that the following permissions are selected for the HireHunch integration:
Applications
- GET: Retrieve Application
Jobs
- GET: Retrieve Job
- GET: List Jobs
Candidates
- GET: Retrieve Candidate
- GET: List Candidate
Find your job board token and create a job board API key
To make your job posts available to HireHunch, you'll need to send your job board token to HireHunch.
You can find your job board URL by navigating to Configure > Job Boards & Posts > Ellipsis icon next to your job board Edit Board Settings, then scrolling to the URL field.
Copy the token at the end of the URL and send it to HireHunch.

Create a job board API key
To enable the integration, you'll need to create a job board API key for HireHunch.
Follow the steps in this article and use the information below when creating your API key:
- API type: Job Board
- Description: HireHunch Job Board API key
Copy the job board API key to a secure location to provide to HireHunch.
Create a webhook
To integrate HireHunch with Greenhouse Recruiting, you'll need to create a webhook. Follow the steps in this article to create your webhook. Use the values listed below to configure the webhooks.
- Name: HireHunch integration
- When: Job Post Updated
- Endpoint URL: The Endpoint URL provided by HireHunch
- Secret Key: The Secret Key provided by HireHunch
Activate HireHunch’s Chrome Extension
Download HireHunch’s Chrome Extension. Be sure you are logged in to your HireHunch account.
In HireHunch, navigate to Integrations on the left menu bar to see the Greenhouse integration section. Click ‘Generate API Key’ to land on the Greenhouse Integration page.
Under “Add the API Key to HireHunch’s Chrome Extension”, click on Generate API Key and click Copy to save it to your clipboard.
Paste the API Key on the HireHunch chrome extension activation page and click Submit.
Add the HireHunch interview stage
In Greenhouse, you need to create a HireHunch Interview stage to the interview plans of your jobs. Select a job and click on "Job Setup" Scroll down to the Interview Plan and click "Edit".
Click "Add Stage" and type HireHunch Interview under Create New Stage. Click "Add" to incorporate the HireHunch Interview stage to your interview plan. Repeat this on all jobs you want to use the integration on.
Create a custom job field for HireHunch
In Greenhouse, you’ll create a custom field to “tag” jobs that HireHunch will then pull. The custom field will indicate where a HireHunch Interview is required.
Click the Configure (gear) icon in the upper right-hand corner. Then, navigate to Custom Options on the left-hand panel. From the Custom Options page, click Jobs under Company Custom Fields.
Click on Add Field. Enter the following information on the page:
- Field Name: Assessment
- Description: HireHunch Interviewing Platform
- Field Type: Single Select
- Options: HireHunch
- Expose in Job Board API: Yes
Click Save. Remember to select HireHunch from this field while creating jobs and HireHunch will then be able to pull the job.
Use the HireHunch integration with Greenhouse Recruiting
Open a candidate's profile in Greenhouse and click Schedule Interview in the HireHunch Interview stage.
Fill out the date and time. Then, select an interviewer from the dropdown list. Click the green Schedule and Continue button in the bottom right.
Click the green Send Invites button to send the invitation.
That's it! You're all set.
Now, HireHunch will export the candidate’s information from Greenhouse, add it under the respective job post, and schedule the candidate’s interview with HireHunch’s interviewer panel.
Please be aware of a few functions that are not currently possible due to limitations with both platforms. HireHunch will continue to develop the HireHunch/Greenhouse integration, and hope to provide more functionalities as new product enhancements are released.
- Every recruiter should download and activate HireHunch’s chrome extension. Without this functionality, the interview has to be scheduled by logging in to the HireHunch account only.
- HireHunch Feedback form cannot be filled in Greenhouse. Hiring manager and or recruiter have to fill the feedback form on HireHunch only.
- There is no way to resend, reschedule, or cancel a HireHunch invitation from Greenhouse.
- Greenhouse allows a single test result per job application.
- HireHunch Evaluation results cannot be updated after they are populated.
- There is no synchronisation with Greenhouse if you send an invitation from HireHunch directly (inviting through HireHunch does not automatically show up in Greenhouse).
