We have partnered with Greenhouse to provide the Stepstone Connect solution, which lets jobseekers apply seamlessly for jobs posted on Stepstone Group job boards. All applications will be passed directly to Greenhouse, with confirmation of the source of this application.
Through the partnership between Stepstone and Greenhouse, recruiters can now more easily benefit from:
- Increased candidate choice with Connect Apply, which ensures a seamless application experience
- Increased impact and visibility on candidate quality with Connect Quality, which leverages your hiring data
Stepstone Group's integration with Greenhouse Recruiting allows users to use a free-to-use technology that enables a seamless integration between Stepstone Group's job boards and Greenhouse. When integrated, this will enable the automatic transfer of applicant data and CVs into your Greenhouse ATS.
This works by simplifying the job application process and removing the need for a candidate to re-enter their information on an external web form. Stepstone pulls the screening questions and additional requirements from the Greenhouse careers site and asks the candidate to provide this information as part of their application on Stepstone's site.
This in turn leads to a much higher application completion rate, greatly reducing candidate drop-off in the application process.
Stepstone is also able to track candidates as they move through the recruitment funnel, using candidate disposition data from Greenhouse. This enables Stepstone to determine how many applicants of value it is providing you, therefore giving you greater insight and visibility into Stepstone's performance.
Job board API
To make your open jobs available to Stepstone Group, you'll need to send your job board URL.
You can find your Job Board URL by navigating to the Job Board settings. (Configure > Job Boards & Posts > Ellipsis icon next to job board > Edit Board Settings) and scroll to the URL field.
Once you have this URL, send it to Stepstone Group.

Generate a job board API key
Next, you'll need to create a Job Board API key for Stepstone Group.
Follow the steps in this article and use the information below when creating your API key:
- API Type: Job Board
- Partner: Stepstone
- Description: add the job board name in here, i.e. "Stepstone" job board API key

End-to-end test
Once we have the necessary information from the requirements above, we will follow the steps below:
Configure the integration within our internal system.
Set up a test job, using the job requisition URL provided. This will be set up on a test account and not use your account credits.
Apply for the job as a candidate.
Test the screening questions are pulling through correctly, by cross-referencing with the Greenhouse careers apply page.
Send an application into Greenhouse.
Advise application has been sent and ask you to confirm that the application and source has come through as expected.
Check that the application status is successfully fetched to Stepstone's system.
Considerations
If any issues arise during this process, Stepstone will feed back to you in the first instance.
Go live
Once testing has been completed in all instances, Stepstone will await your confirmation to go live with the integration. At this point, Stepstone will turn this on for all live jobs on your account.
Configure Harvest API access
Open the link provided by your Stepstone representative.
Unless you are already logged in to your Greenhouse portal, you will be asked to log in.
Once you are logged in, you should see a prompt to grant 5 permissions to the Connect app.
After you click the Authorize button, you will be redirected to the api.stepstone.com webpage (or to another page if it was configured) and the process will be successfully completed.
If you click the Cancel button, the process will be abandoned and permissions will not be granted.
You can use the same link to start the activation again.
The link is valid for 30 days.
Retrieve user ID
Stepstone Group will need a Greenhouse Recruiting user ID to associate with updates and changes created by the integration.
Tip: We recommend creating an integration system user (ISU) to associate with partner updates. Rather than requiring a specific user at your organization to authenticate an integration, which could cause downstream errors if the person loses permissions or cannot access Greenhouse Recruiting, an ISU allows you to create a solid infrastructure for your organization's integration needs. Click Export to Excel.
A spreadsheet will be downloaded to your computer. Open the Excel file and locate the user ID in the User ID column.
Use the Stepstone Connect integration
Once enabled, there is no further action required to use the integration. This is a one-time process with no further requirements to utilise the benefits of Connect. From then, you will receive your applications back from our job boards, into Greenhouse.
