When you're building a data view, each field in the field list has a small icon next to it. These icons tell you what kind of field it is at a glance, before you even add it to your view.
This page is a quick reference for what each icon means. For definitions of the fields, subjects, and terms themselves, see the Analytics glossary.
Tip:
Icon color is a quick way to tell field types apart at a glance:
- Blue icons are dimensions (attributes you can group or filter by)
- Green icons are measures (calculations like counts, sums, and averages).
| Icon | Name | What it means |
| Text | The field holds free text (e.g. a candidate's name, a job title). | |
| Number | The field holds a numeric value (e.g. days in stage, headcount). | |
| Date/Time | The field holds a date or timestamp (e.g. applied date, interview scheduled time). | |
| Yes/No | The field is a yes/no (or true/false) value (e.g. is this a rejected application?). | |
| Measure | The field is a calculation performed across your data, like a count, sum, or average, rather than a raw attribute of a single record. This icon also appears on calculated fields, since a calculated field behaves like a measure once it's added to your view. |
Note: Because both measures and calculated fields use the same icon, don't assume every field with this icon is a pre-built measure. Check the field's name or its "Calculated" label to tell them apart.
