CandidScreen's integration with Greenhouse allows you to seamlessly add AI assessments to a job's interview plan, trigger them automatically, and view deep insights and scores directly inside Greenhouse. CandidScreen also supports Apply Pages, allowing candidates to submit their application and complete their AI screening in one single, frictionless flow, drastically reducing candidate drop-off while pushing the candidate, any intake answers, and their resume directly into your Greenhouse pipeline.
Before you begin, you'll need:
- A CandidScreen admin account
- A Greenhouse Site Admin account
- At least one CandidScreen assessment template
Configure the CandidScreen integration
Connect CandidScreen to Greenhouse
CandidScreen uses Greenhouse's OAuth flow to sync jobs, notes, and tags automatically.
- In CandidScreen, go to Settings > ATS Integration.
- Select Greenhouse.
- Under Apply Page Push & Result Sync, click Connect with Greenhouse.
- Sign in to Greenhouse as a Site Admin.
- Authorize CandidScreen.
A green Connected via Greenhouse Partner message confirms the connection is active.
Create a CandidScreen API key
To allow Greenhouse to send tests to CandidScreen, you need to generate an Assessment API key.
- In CandidScreen, go to Settings > ATS Integration.
- Select Greenhouse.
- Under Assessment API Key, click Create API Key and copy it.
Then, follow the steps in this article to work with Greenhouse support to add the assessment stage in your interview plans.
Add CandidScreen to a job's interview plan
CandidScreen uses templates to create an assessment per job. Each template can be any combination of intake page, resume screening, interview screening, and biometric ID verification. Inside interview screening, you will also find timed multiple choice assessments and coding IDE assessments.
In CandidScreen, select one of the available jobs (pulled from Greenhouse). Edit, review, and save the template (e.g., interview screening & ID Verification).
Back in Greenhouse, open the job where you want to use CandidScreen.
Go to Job Setup > Interview Plan.
Click Add Stage and select CandidScreen.
Configure the assessment:
For Test Name, select a relevant CandidScreen assessment template.
For Who should grade this test, select the appropriate Greenhouse user.
Click Save.
Use the CandidScreen integration with Greenhouse Recruiting
Send assessments automatically (recommended)
To save your recruiters time, you can configure Greenhouse to automatically email the CandidScreen assessment the moment a candidate enters the stage.
- After creating the above stage, Greenhouse automatically takes you to Stage Transition (Job Setup > Stage Automation > Create a Rule).
- Select the CandidScreen stage.
- Set the action to Send Take Home Test.
- Set the trigger to Immediately.
- Click Save.
Note: If a candidate has already completed this specific assessment, CandidScreen will automatically detect it and will not email them duplicate requests. This allows you to have all candidates use the Apply Page, and then re-use that same template for the same job in the assessment stage.
Send assessments manually
If you prefer not to automate the step, you can send assessments manually.
- Move the candidate into the CandidScreen stage.
- Click Send Test next to the CandidScreen stage.
- Select the CandidScreen assessment template.
- Click Send Test.
The assessment instructions and secure link will be emailed to the candidate directly by CandidScreen.
Send assessments in bulk
If you are processing a high volume of candidates and choose to manually send assessments, you can trigger CandidScreen assessments for multiple candidates at once.
- Navigate to the pipeline stage right before CandidScreen (e.g., Application Review).
- Click Bulk Actions > Select All > Edit Selected > Move to Another Stage. Select your CandidScreen stage.
- Once moved, go to the Pipeline Tasks filter on the left sidebar and select To Be Sent.
- Click Bulk Actions > Select All > Edit Selected > Send Tests.
- Select your CandidScreen template and click Send Test.
Setting the stage to automate is recommended to avoid manual steps.
Review CandidScreen results in Greenhouse
As soon as the candidate completes their AI screening, their results will instantly sync to the candidate's Interview Kit in Greenhouse.
Results pushed to Greenhouse include:
- Overall status
- CandidScreen score
- Resume score (if enabled on your template)
- ID verification status (if enabled on your template)
- Confidence indicator & system flags

Use CandidScreen Apply Pages (optional)
CandidScreen Apply Pages let candidates apply and begin screening in one uninterrupted flow — drastically reducing candidate drop-off by removing the delay between applying and waiting for an assessment email.
When a candidate submits a CandidScreen Apply Page:
- The candidate is instantly created in your Greenhouse pipeline (resume attached and any intake answers added via a note).
- Screening starts immediately in the browser.
- When complete, results are posted to Greenhouse automatically.
Enable an Apply Page for a template:
- In CandidScreen, open your assessment template.
- Toggle on Enable Apply Page.
- Select the matching Greenhouse job from the dropdown.
- Review any custom intake questions.
- Save the template and share your Apply Page link across your job boards.
Note: CandidScreen does not collect EEOC / demographic data. If candidates enter your pipeline via CandidScreen (Apply Page or sourced), you can send them the EEOC questionnaire directly from Greenhouse. Troubleshooting
CandidScreen is not available as an assessment stage
Contact Greenhouse Support to confirm the CandidScreen Assessment integration has been successfully enabled for your Greenhouse organization.
Invalid API key
Regenerate the CandidScreen API key in Settings > ATS Integration and share the new key with Greenhouse Support through their secure SendSafely link.
Candidate did not receive the assessment invitation
Confirm the assessment was officially sent from Greenhouse (check if Stage Automation is active). Ask the candidate to check their spam folder. Alternatively, you can open the candidate's profile in CandidScreen and copy/share their unique assessment link manually.
Apply Page applicants are not appearing in Greenhouse
Confirm the Greenhouse Harvest v3 connection is active in CandidScreen (it is safe to click disconnect and reconnect).
