Greenhouse Recruiting’s integration with Alva Labs allows you to send tests to candidates and receive their results automatically.
Set up the Alva integration
Create a Harvest API key
To configure the Alva integration, you'll need to create a Harvest API key.
Follow the steps in this article to create the key, and verify that the credentials and permissions below are selected when configuring the Alva integration.
Credentials
In the Create New Credential box, make the following selections:
- API Type: Harvest
- Partner: Alva Labs
- Description: Alva Labs Harvest API Key
Permissions
Verify that the following permissions are selected for the Alva integration:
Applications
- Select all
When finished, click Save.
Your Harvest API key for the Alva Labs integration is created and configured. Copy the API key to provide to Alva in the next step.
Enter Harvest API key in Alva
To provide your created API key to Alva, navigate to your Alva account and Log in.
Navigate to Account > Integrations and next to the Greenhouse logo, click Add.
In the following window, enter your Harvest API key into the available field and then, click Enable.
Once complete, you will receive an Alva API key.
Copy the Alva API key field contents to provide to Greenhouse Technical Support in the next step.
Provide Alva API key to Greenhouse Technical Support
Once you have obtained your API key, click here to open a ticket with Greenhouse Technical Support. The Greenhouse Technical Support team will respond with a SendSafely link for you to enter your API key.
Note: Do not send the API key in this initial email.
A notification will be sent to Greenhouse Technical Support after you have entered your API key and they will email you to confirm that your API key has been set up in your account and your integration is enabled.
Note: To verify your identity, the Greenhouse Technical Support team might request you provide a Support Verification Code before adding the API key to your organization's account.
Add Alva stage to job's interview plan and complete setup
After configuring the Alva Labs integration credentials, you will be able to add the Alva Labs assessment stage to your job's interview plan.
When you're adding a new stage to an interview plan, the Alva Labs stage will display in the list. Select this stage and add it to the interview plan.
Once the stage has been added to the job's interview plan, click Edit Take Home Test. Use the provided drop-down menu to choose assessments that you have previously set up in Alva.
Select the appropriate assessment and assign at least one Greenhouse Recruiting user to grade/review submitted assessments. When finished, click Save.
Note: Assessment configuration (including the email template) must be completed in Alva.
Use the Alva Labs integration
Send a test
When candidates are moved into the configured Alva interview stage, Greenhouse displays a Send Test link.
Note: When you send a test from Greenhouse Recruiting, the interview instructions are actually sent by Alva.
Click Send Test to trigger the assessment workflow.
Review assessment results
After sending the test, the candidate will receive an email with instructions and you are able to see the test's status in either Alva Labs or Greenhouse Recruiting.
The status of the assessment is viewable in Greenhouse Recruiting on the candidate profile.
Once the candidate has submitted their test, the Interview Kit contains a link to view the submitted test on Alva. To see the report directly in Alva, click View Report.
