When submitting interview availability with a company that uses Greenhouse Recruiting, you might see an option to record your name pronunciation. If you choose to provide a recording, it will be available to the Hiring Team on your candidate profile. Submitting a name pronunciation recording helps ensure a smooth introduction with the Hiring Team, empowering you before the interview even begins.  

To begin creating a Candidate Name Pronunciation recording, click the Enter your availability now link at the bottom of the email you received from the company where you are interviewing. You will be directed to the Interview Availability webpage. 

Record on a mobile device

From the Interview Availability webpage, provide your availability and enter a note if applicable. 

Navigate to the Record Name Pronunciation section and tap the Record button.

If prompted, tap Allow to grant Greenhouse access to your device's microphone.

When the timer begins counting, say your name slowly and clearly. You will have 10 seconds to record. Tap the Stop button when finished.

Tap the Play button to listen to your recording.

To re-record, tap the file name to reveal the Delete icon. Tap the Delete icon to remove the current recording, and then follow the steps above to re-record. You can re-record as many times as you like.

When you are satisfied with your recording, ensure you have provided your availability and any notes you wish to send to the Hiring Team, and then tap Submit Availability at the bottom of the page. 

Record on a computer

Note: This feature is not supported on Internet Explorer. Click here for a list of Greenhouse's fully-supported browser types. 

From the Interview Availability webpage, provide your availability and enter a note if applicable.

Tips for a successful recording

To create the best recording, try and do the following things to ensure your name is recorded clearly:

  • Try to speak slowly and as clearly as possible
  • Try to limit any background noise
  • If recording on a mobile device, hold your device 3–5 inches from your mouth
  • If you experience persistent issues, try recording without headphones
