Standardized post descriptions allow your organization to configure introductions or conclusions for all job posts on a specific job board. These sections are then automatically added to every job and prospect post on the job board to provide a simple way to simultaneously add a company overview, benefits / perks details, and more to all of your posts.
Note: Standardized post descriptions are available for job posts for all subscription tiers, as well as for prospect posts for organizations on the Expert subscription tier.
Configure standardized post descriptions
Note: Your team might have previously added uniform company information or language to the Post Description section of all job posts manually. If so, be sure to review your existing posts to remove this information before configuring a standardized post description. To learn more about how existing posts are impacted by enabling this feature, click here.
To configure standardized post descriptions, click the Configure icon on your navigation bar and then click Job Boards & Posts on the left.
From the Configure Job Boards page, click the Ellipsis icon beside the name of the job board where you wish to configure a standardized post description. Click Edit Post Settings in the dropdown.
From the Configure Job Posts page, click Edit Post Settings in the upper-right corner.
From the Post Settings page, use the provided text boxes to configure an introduction and / or conclusion. Information added to the Description Introduction field will appear at the top of every job and prospect post on this job board. Information added to the Description Conclusion field will appear at the end of every job and prospect post description on this job board.
When finished, click Save at the bottom of the page.
Your new introduction and conclusion will be added to every new post created on the job board moving forward and published with each new post as it is set to LIVE.
Your standardized post description will be added to every existing job and prospect post on the job board you selected.
Organizations with an internal job board or multiple external job boards can repeat this process to create a unique introduction and conclusion across each job board.

Standardized post descriptions and Job Board API / Harvest API implications
Job Board API
When adding a standardized post description, there are no changes required for customers and partners using Greenhouse Job Board API. If a job post contains an introduction and / or conclusion, the entire description (introduction, post description, and conclusion) will be combined and appear in the existing content
field.
Harvest API
When adding a standardized post description, to prevent breaking any integrations a change will be required to show the introduction and conclusion for customers and partners using Greenhouse Harvest API. By default, the following four endpoints will return only the post description, and will leave out the introduction and conclusion (if they exist):
- https://developers.greenhouse.io/harvest.html#get-retrieve-job-post
- https://developers.greenhouse.io/harvest.html#get-list-job-posts-for-job
- https://developers.greenhouse.io/harvest.html#get-retrieve-job-post-for-job
To obtain the introduction and / or conclusion, add the query parameter ?full_content=true
to the end of the four endpoints above.
Adding this query parameter will return the entire description (introduction, job post, conclusion) in either the content
field (for external posts) or the internal_content
field (for internal posts).
