How can we help you?

Standardized Post Descriptions

Site_Admin.png

Standardized Post Descriptions allow your organization to configure an Introduction and/or Conclusion at the job board level, which are then automatically added to every job and prospect post on the job board. Standardized Post Descriptions provide a simple way to add a company overview, benefits/perks details, and more to all of your posts simultaneously.

Note: Standardized Post Descriptions are available for job posts for all subscription tiers, as well as for prospect posts for organizations on the Expert subscription tier.

In this article, we will cover:

Your Standardized Post Description also will be added to every existing job and prospect post on this job board, but at this time might not be published immediately. Organizations with an internal job board or multiple external job boards can repeat this process to create a unique Introduction and Conclusion for each job board.

Enabling Standardized Post Descriptions on Existing Posts

Your team might previously have added uniform company information or language to the Post Description section of all job posts manually. If so, be sure to review your existing posts to remove this information before configuring a Standardized Post Description. If this type of manually added information is not removed from posts, your posts might end up displaying the same information twice.

During the introduction phase of the Standardized Post Descriptions feature, Greenhouse Recruiting will surface a warning to the first user who edits or changes the status of a pre-existing post where a Standardized Post Description has been enabled.

Note: These warnings are temporary and will be removed in the future. We strongly encourage your team to review/update all existing job and prospect posts as needed as soon as you begin using Standardized Post Descriptions.

Configuring Standardized Post Descriptions will impact posts as follows during the feature roll-out phase:

  • Pre-existing live posts: When a Standardized Post Description is configured for a job board, it will not be published automatically for any pre-existing live posts.
    • If a user clicks to edit a pre-existing live post, the top of the Job Post Edit page will display a warning. This warning will be displayed only the first time a user makes edits to the job post; it will not be redisplayed on subsequent edits made by any users.
  • If a user continues with their edits and saves the changes, the Standardized Post Description will be published on the post along with the edits.

mceclip1.png

  • Pre-existing offline posts: When a Standardized Post Description is configured for a job board, it will be added automatically to any pre-existing offline posts.
    • If a user toggles a pre-existing offline post from OFF to LIVE, a warning will surface suggesting they review the post to remove any information that might be made duplicative by the addition of the Introduction and/or Conclusion. This warning will be displayed only the first time a user toggles the post status to LIVE; it will not be redisplayed on subsequent status changes made by any users.
    • The user can move forward without reviewing the post by clicking Make Live, or can click View Post Details to review.

  • All new posts: Posts created after the Standardized Post Description is configured will include the Introduction and/or Conclusion automatically. No warnings will be displayed to any users when editing or publishing these posts.

Impact of Standardized Post Descriptions Impact Job Board API and Harvest API

Job Board API:

There are no changes required for customers and partners using the Job Board API. If a job post contains an Introduction and/or Conclusion, the entire description (Introduction, post description, and Conclusion) will be combined and appear in the existing content field

Harvest API:

To prevent breaking any integrations, a change will be required to show the Introduction and Conclusion in Harvest. By default, the following four endpoints will return only the post description, and will leave out the Introduction and Conclusion (if they exist):

To obtain the Introduction and/or Conclusion as well, add the query parameter ?full_content=true to the end of the four endpoints above.

Adding the noted query parameter will return the entire description (Introduction, job post, Conclusion) in either the content field (for external posts) or the internal_content field (for internal posts).
