Custom application questions allow your organization to collect information from candidates when they apply for a job.
Add custom application questions to future job posts
Custom application questions can be added to future jobs by creating a template job. Once the template job is created, it is saved as a draft that can be copied to future job posts.
Note: When adding a custom question to your template job, make sure to link responses to a candidate field if you intend to report on custom application questions across many jobs. This action allows you to report on the linked candidate fields across all associated jobs using the essential candidate reports.
Add custom application questions to a single job post
To add custom application questions to a job post, click Jobs from your navigation bar and select a job from the list.
From the Job Dashboard page, click Job Setup and navigate to Job Posts on the left.
Navigate to the job post from the list and click the Edit icon .
From the Edit Your Job Post page, scroll to the Custom Application Questions section and click Add Custom Question.
From the Add Custom Question box, input the following:
- Question
- Description (optional)
- Answer type (including the option to link responses to a candidate field)
- Privacy setting
- Required or not
Note: Responses to custom application questions can only be reported on one job at a time (read more here). If you intend to report on custom application questions across many jobs, be sure to link responses to a candidate field. This action allows you to report on the linked candidate fields across all associated jobs using the essential candidate reports.
Additionally, if you select Attachment as the Answer Type, candidate attachments cannot exceed a file size of 500 MB.
When finished, click Add. Repeat this process for every question you'd like to add.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save to confirm the addition of the custom application question(s).
Your custom question(s) is now added to the job application.

Add custom application questions with a linked candidate field to job posts in bulk
Notes:
- Bulk actions can only be completed by Site Admins with the user-specific permission to bulk edit jobs
- Your custom question must already exist with a linked candidate field in order to complete this workflow. Follow the steps in this section to add a new question to a job post.
Linking a custom question to a candidate field is not available when creating a new question during the bulk workflow. This section provides a workaround to ensure your existing question is added to job posts in bulk.
To begin, open the All Jobs page and narrow down the jobs using the filters panel.
Select the checkbox next to each job you want included in the bulk action. All jobs on the page can be selected using the checkbox in the column header.
Once selected, click External Jobs Posts or Internal Job Posts.
Navigate to the Custom Questions tab.
Click the ellipsis icon next to the linked question and select Required or Optional from the dropdown.
Repeat this process for each question.
Click Save and Exit when done.
