Certn helps fast-moving teams run background checks directly inside Greenhouse. With automation that kicks in the moment a candidate moves stages, and real-time updates that flow back into your ATS, you can screen faster, without the back-and-forth or manual triggers.
This integration lets you:
- Add Certn as a stage in your interview plan
- Automate background check requests
- Access candidate reports via secure link or PDF
- Maintain a seamless experience for your team and your candidates
Set up the Certn integration
Retrieve your API key
To enable the integration, please log into Certn. Navigate to the Settings > Integrations and select Add next to the Greenhouse icon. You will receive an API key that you will need to save to submit to Greenhouse. Important: You will not be able to access this API key again after leaving the page. Make sure it is saved somewhere secure before proceeding.
Ensure that you know which region that you are located in. There are 3 region specific stages that you can select from when configuring your Greenhouse Integration:
- Certn [EMEA]
- Certn [North America]
- Certn [AU]
Secure API Key Submission
The Greenhouse Support Team will respond with a SendSafely link where you can enter your API key. You will need to provide the regional stage you need enabled in your response to Greenhouse. For example: API KEY ########, Certn [EMEA]
Note: The Greenhouse Support Team may request a Support Verification Code to verify your identity before adding the API key to your organization's account.
Once this is done, the Greenhouse Support Team will enable your integration, and you will receive a confirmation email from them.
Configure the stage
Once the appropriate region specific Certn stage is enabled for your organization, you will be able to add the Certn background check as an interview stage.
Use the Certn integration
Note: A Certn background check (referred to as “assessment” in the Greenhouse platform) can only be sent to active candidates. If a candidate has already been marked as hired, a Certn background check won't be sent.
Send and review the test
You can send a background check to a candidate by selecting the Send Test button next to the interview stage.
After it has been sent, a check status will display in Greenhouse Recruiting.
Note: If you want to automate background checks being sent to your candidates, create a stage transition rule.
Once configured, background checks will be triggered to send automatically after a candidate moves into the defined partner stage.
View candidate results
Once the candidate has submitted their test, the Interview Kit will contain a link or pdf to view the Certn report in Certn.
