Finch offers a unified API for trusted applications to securely access employment and candidate data on behalf of employers from leading payroll providers, HR information systems, and applicant tracking systems.

Greenhouse Recruiting’s integration with Finch allows Greenhouse Recruiting customers to authenticate access and share Greenhouse Recruiting data with trusted applications through the Finch API. As an example, some learning or onboarding management systems may request your Greenhouse Recruiting candidate data from within their platform to automatically issue trainings to new hires.

Create a Harvest API key for the Finch integration

To configure the Greenhouse Recruiting / Finch integration, you’ll need to create a Harvest API key.

Follow the steps in this article to create the key, and verify that the permissions below are selected when configuring the Finch integration.

Credentials

In the Create New Credential box, make the following selections:

  • API Type: Harvest
  • Partner: Finch (optional)
  • Description: “Developer” Harvest API Key (Note: the Finch screen’s instructions will specify the exact Developer name. See the note box below for an example.)

Permissions

Verify that the following permissions are selected for the Finch integration:

Candidates

  • List Candidates
  • Retrieve Candidate

Applications

  • List Applications
  • Retrieve Application

Job Posts

  • List Job Posts

Offer

  • List Offer
  • Retrieve Offer

Note: These permissions may change depending on how much data access the application has requested. We have listed the maximum number of permissions above, but the Finch screen’s instructions will list the exact permissions you should select.

Use the Finch integration with Greenhouse Recruiting

Finch typically shows up as part of the onboarding or setup process within your favorite application. For example, some learning or onboarding management systems may request your Greenhouse Recruiting candidate data from within their platform to automatically issue trainings to new hires.

When you’re ready to start syncing data from Greenhouse Recruiting to your application, the Finch screen will pop up, typically in your application’s dashboard.

In this screen, Finch displays several pages before asking you to share an API token.

First, you'll see information on Finch’s security practices.

Then, Finch shows exactly what data the application is requesting access to. The application has access to request all or a subset of job, offer, candidate, and application data. If you have any questions on the data scopes shown, please reach out to your application’s support team as they can share more information.

On the Select your provider page, click Greenhouse.

Finally, you’ll see instructions on how to create an API token within Greenhouse Recruiting.

These instructions cover:

  • What permissions you need to create a Harvest API token
  • How to create that API token
  • Which permissions to set, depending on what data the application is requesting access to

Just follow those instructions and click Sign In to create and share that API token with Finch.

Your application will then be able to retrieve automated, real-time data from your Greenhouse Recruiting system directly and securely.
