JobTarget gives your organization access to 25,000+ niche and wide-reaching job sites, along with recommendations on which sites will drive the most qualified applicants for each job. Employers use JobTarget to advertise their open jobs, manage their recruitment advertising budget, and track where their applicants come from.

JobTarget’s integration with Greenhouse Recruiting allows you to automatically import every live job from your external job board into JobTarget, so you can advertise it without re-entering job details. When a candidate applies to one of your jobs through JobTarget, the application, including the resume and answers to your application questions, is submitted directly into Greenhouse Recruiting with JobTarget as the source.

Retrieve your job board URL

To make your open jobs available to JobTarget, you’ll need to send your job board URL.

You can find your Job Board URL by navigating to the Job Board settings (Configure > Job Boards & Posts > Ellipsis icon next to job board > Edit Board Settings) and scroll to the URL field. JobTarget imports every job post on your live external job board. Internal job boards are not imported.

The last part of the URL is your job board token. For example, for job-boards.greenhouse.io/jobtargetintegrationsandbox, the token is jobtargetintegrationsandbox.

Once you have this URL, send it to JobTarget.

Generate a job board API key

Next, you’ll need to create a Job Board API key for JobTarget. JobTarget uses this key to submit candidate applications into your Greenhouse Recruiting account.

Follow the steps in this article and use the information below when creating your API key:

  • API Type: Job Board
  • Partner: JobTarget
  • Description: JobTarget job board API key

Creating a Job Board API key for JobTarget

Important: Copy the API key and store it somewhere secure; you won’t be able to view it again. Make sure you select the Job Board API type. A Harvest API key will not work, and applications from JobTarget won’t reach Greenhouse Recruiting without a valid Job Board API key.

Set up JobTarget source tracking

Source tracking makes sure candidates who apply through JobTarget show JobTarget as their source in Greenhouse Recruiting. Set it up in two steps, in this order: first create a JobTarget source, then create a tracking link that uses it.

Create a JobTarget source

A Site Admin, or a Job Admin who can manage company metadata, creates the source. If JobTarget already appears in your list of sources, skip to step 2.

Click Configure > Custom Options.

Under Company Metadata, click Sources.

Custom Options page with Sources under Company Metadata

On the Manage Sources page, click Create New Source.

Manage Sources page with the Create New Source button

Under Sourcing Strategy, select Third-party boards. In Name of Source, enter JobTarget.

Click Create Source.

Create a JobTarget tracking link

Once the JobTarget source exists, create a tracking link that uses it. You only need one tracking link; JobTarget uses it for all of your jobs.

  • Click Configure > Job Boards & Posts.
  • Click the Ellipsis icon next to your external job board, then click Tracking Link.
  • Under Select a source, choose JobTarget. This is the source you created in step 1.
  • Click Create Link, then click Copy.

Optional: share salary, pay type and job type with JobTarget

JobTarget can show salary, pay type (yearly or hourly) and job type on your jobs. This information only reaches JobTarget if you expose it in the Job Board API.

Salary: use pay transparency or a Salary Range job field. If both are set up on a job, the Salary Range field is used. To set up pay transparency, a Site Admin clicks Configure > Privacy & Compliance, then clicks Configure in the Pay transparency section and creates a rule.

Job custom fields: a Site Admin, or a Job Admin who can manage custom fields, creates these fields:

Click Configure > Custom Options > Jobs, then click Add Field.

Create each field below with the exact name and field type shown.

  • Salary Range – Currency range
  • Salary Type – Single select: Yearly, Hourly
  • Employment Type – Single select: Full-time, Part-time, Intern, Contract, Temporary

Select Expose in job board API, then click Save.

Fill in the fields on each job under Job Setup > Job Info.

Note: JobTarget matches these fields by name, so use the names exactly as written. Fields exposed in the Job Board API are publicly visible.

Send your details to JobTarget

With your job board URL, Job Board API key and tracking link ready, contact JobTarget at support@jobtarget.com to set up the integration.

Send your Job Board API key securely using a one-time secret link: paste the key into onetimesecret.com, create the link, and send the link to JobTarget. Don’t send the API key in a regular email.

Use the JobTarget integration with Greenhouse Recruiting

Jobs

JobTarget regularly checks your external job board and imports every live job post, including the title, description, location, department, and any salary, pay type and job type you’ve shared.

  • To add a job to JobTarget, publish a job post on your external job board. It appears in JobTarget after the next import.
  • To update a job, edit the job post with the pencil icon. The change reaches JobTarget on the next import.
  • To remove a job, switch the job post off or close the job. JobTarget closes it on the next import.

Job posts on the external job board

Imported jobs appear in JobTarget under Job Manager > Jobs, with the Greenhouse job post ID as the Req. ID.

To advertise a job, click Advertise Job and choose where to post it in the JobTarget Marketplace. Add individual job sites to your cart, or choose Programmatic to reach more sites automatically. Sites marked Easy Apply let candidates apply without leaving the job site, and their applications are sent to Greenhouse Recruiting.

Applications

Candidates who apply through JobTarget answer the application questions from your Greenhouse job post, including any location, EEOC and demographic questions. JobTarget then submits the application, with the candidate’s resume and answers, directly into Greenhouse Recruiting. The candidate appears on the job with JobTarget as the source.

The apply form starts with the candidate’s contact details and resume:

It then walks the candidate through your Greenhouse questions one step at a time, starting with location if the job asks for it:

To see the source, open the candidate’s profile and click the Application tab in the right-hand panel. JobTarget is listed under Source and responsibility > Source & referrer. The source isn’t shown on the default Candidate tab.

Frequently asked questions

Do I still need a Harvest API key for JobTarget?

No. JobTarget is moving to the Job Board API and will only need your job board URL, a Job Board API key and a JobTarget tracking link.

Some of my jobs aren’t showing up in JobTarget. Why?

JobTarget only imports live job posts on your external job board. Check that the job post is switched on and published to your external board, not only an internal board.

Salary, pay type or job type isn’t showing in JobTarget. Why?

Check that the field is named exactly Salary Range, Salary Type or Employment Type, that Expose in job board API is selected, and that the field is filled in on the job.

Candidates applied through JobTarget but aren’t in Greenhouse Recruiting. Why?

The Job Board API key may be missing, deactivated or created with the wrong API type. Create a new key with the Job Board API type and send it to JobTarget.

Candidates are in Greenhouse Recruiting but don’t show JobTarget as the source. Why?

First, check the Application tab on the candidate’s profile; the source isn’t shown on the Candidate tab. If it still doesn’t say JobTarget, JobTarget may not have your tracking link, or the link was created for a different source. Create a tracking link with JobTarget as the source and send it to JobTarget. If JobTarget isn’t in the Source list, create the JobTarget source first.
