RoadDogJobs is an online job board dedicated to connecting commercial and industrial skilled tradespeople with employers across the industrial construction sector. RoadDogJobs specializes in traveling skilled trade jobs that pay per diem.

The RoadDogJobs integration with Greenhouse Recruiting automatically publishes your open Greenhouse job posts to RoadDogJobs. When a candidate applies on RoadDogJobs, their profile, resume, and application details are written back into Greenhouse Recruiting as a candidate and an application on the job they applied to, so your hiring team manages the entire pipeline without leaving Greenhouse.

RoadDogJobs does not create, edit, or delete your jobs or users, and does not move, advance, hire, or reject applications. It reads candidate and application records so it can check for an existing candidate before creating a new one.

Configure the RoadDogJobs integration

Before you begin

  • You need an active RoadDogJobs employer account. To set one up, contact RoadDogJobs at sales@roaddogjobs.com.
  • The person who authorizes the connection must be a Site Admin in Greenhouse Recruiting. Connections attempted with a standard user account are rejected.
  • Your RoadDogJobs account manager will send you a connection link that is unique to your organization. Do not share or reuse this link.

Request the integration

Contact your RoadDogJobs account manager, or email support@roaddogjobs.com, and ask to enable the Greenhouse integration. RoadDogJobs will generate your connection link and send it to the Site Admin you nominate.

Open the connection link

Open the link your RoadDogJobs account manager sent you.

RoadDogJobs uses Kombo (kombo.dev) as its integration platform, so the connection page is hosted at connect.kombo.dev. This is expected. Kombo connects on RoadDogJobs’ behalf using RoadDogJobs’ own Greenhouse partner credentials, and the Greenhouse authorization screen in the next steps shows RoadDogJobs.

The page lists what RoadDogJobs will be able to do in your Greenhouse account. Review the list and select Continue.

Sign in to Greenhouse

Select Sign in with Greenhouse (V3). Greenhouse opens its authorization page for RoadDogJobs. Enter your Site Admin email address, select Log in to Greenhouse, and complete Greenhouse’s usual sign-in.

Authorize the connection

After you sign in, Greenhouse shows the permissions RoadDogJobs requests and confirms that the app will be authorized using a service account. The service account is created for your organization and owns the connection, so it keeps working even if the person who set it up leaves or their Greenhouse account is deactivated.

Select Authorize service account.

What RoadDogJobs does with your Greenhouse data

Jobs and job posts: RoadDogJobs reads each job's title, description, location, department and pay range so it can publish the job on RoadDogJobs, and keeps the listing up to date when you edit or close the job in Greenhouse.

Candidates and applications: When someone applies, RoadDogJobs checks whether they're already a candidate in Greenhouse, then creates the candidate and the application on the job they applied to, with their resume attached and RoadDogJobs as the source.

Job updates: RoadDogJobs sets up and maintains its own webhooks so changes to your jobs reach RoadDogJobs quickly. There's nothing for you to configure.

RoadDogJobs does not edit or delete your jobs, candidates, applications or users, and does not move, advance, hire or reject applications. The exact fields are listed under Fields RoadDogJobs reads and writes below.

Create the RoadDogJobs source

Greenhouse needs a candidate source named RoadDogJobs so that applications from RoadDogJobs are attributed correctly in your reports. The connection page prompts you to create it.

  • In Greenhouse, select the Configure (gear) icon, then Custom Options, then Sources.
  • Select Create New Source.
  • Set Sourcing Strategy to Other and name the source RoadDogJobs, exactly as shown on the connection page.
  • Select Create Source. RoadDogJobs now appears in your list of sources.

Return to the connection page and select Set up integration.

Confirmation

The connection is complete. There is nothing more to do on the connection page.

The connection belongs to a service account, so it won't appear under Connections in your personal Greenhouse Account Settings. For background on integration service users, see Greenhouse’s article on creating an integration service user.

Choose which jobs publish to RoadDogJobs

Tell your RoadDogJobs account manager which of your open job posts should publish to RoadDogJobs. Most customers publish only their field, craft and craft-supervision roles rather than every open requisition. RoadDogJobs can filter by department, office, or job category — confirm with your account manager which field distinguishes those roles in your Greenhouse account.

Your first sync completes shortly after the connection is authorized. After that, jobs you open, edit or close in Greenhouse are reflected on RoadDogJobs automatically.

Receiving an application

  • A skilled tradesperson finds your job on RoadDogJobs and selects Apply.
  • They sign in to their RoadDogJobs job seeker account, or create one. An account is required to apply.
  • They complete the RoadDogJobs application form and upload a resume.
  • On submit, RoadDogJobs creates the candidate and the application in Greenhouse Recruiting.

New applications appear in Greenhouse within a few minutes of submission. From that point the candidate is an ordinary Greenhouse candidate — review, advance, reject and report on them exactly as you would any other applicant.

Screening questions

The RoadDogJobs application form does not present the screening questions configured on your Greenhouse job posts, and applications from RoadDogJobs arrive in Greenhouse without screening question answers. This includes questions marked as required on the job post.

If your hiring process depends on those answers, your recruiters can collect them after the application arrives, for example through a Greenhouse candidate form or a first-stage phone screen.

Candidates who have already applied

RoadDogJobs does not let a candidate apply to the same job more than once in seven days. If they apply again after that and already have an application on that job in Greenhouse, no second application is created and your existing application record is left unchanged.

Frequently asked questions

My job is not showing up on RoadDogJobs.

Confirm the job post is live and published in Greenhouse, and that it matches the sync filter configured for your account. Contact RoadDogJobs support to review your filter.

My job shows no location on RoadDogJobs.

RoadDogJobs uses the Location set on the job post. If the post has none, it uses the Location field of the job’s office (Configure > Organization > Offices). An office name alone is not used, so make sure the office’s Location field is filled in.

The connection was rejected.

The Greenhouse account used to authorize the connection must have Site Admin permissions. Re-open your connection link and sign in with a Site Admin account.

Applications from RoadDogJobs are not showing RoadDogJobs as the source.
