Refapp is a digital and automated reference checking tool that gives recruiters and hiring managers full control of their reference checks. Refapp's vision is reference checks of the future – to digitize, streamline and increase the validity of the reference check.
Greenhouse Recruiting's integration with Refapp allows you to seamlessly add Refapp's digital reference check to a job's interview plan.
Enable the Greenhouse Recruiting / Refapp integration
To enable the Greenhouse Recruiting / Refapp integration, contact Refapp's support at support@refapp.com to request an API key for your integration. Once you have received your API key, click here to open a ticket with Greenhouse Technical Support.
There are two available stages for the Refapp integration: Refapp and Refapp [Sec]. You'll need to let Greenhouse Technical Support know which stage to enable. Reach out to your Refapp onboarding team if you're not sure which stage your organization will use.
Note: Don't send your API key in the initial ticket to Greenhouse Technical Support. If needed, Greenhouse Technical Support will respond with a SendSafely link for you to securely share the API key.
Wait for a confirmation email from Greenhouse Technical Support. You may be required to verify your account before you can proceed.
Greenhouse Technical Support will provide a SendSafely link where you can enter your API key. Once Greenhouse Technical Support configures your API key, they'll send a confirmation email.
Configure project templates in Refapp
Before you add the Refapp stage in Greenhouse Recruiting, you need to configure some settings in Refapp. Go into your Refapp profile and set up at least one project template.
In the project template you select and edit which questionnaire to send out to the referees and what the communication with both candidates and referees will look like.
After you have saved your project template, you need to go into Company settings and go to the Integrations tab. In the integration settings, make sure 'Include user selection in template choice' is selected and add the users that will work with Refapp reference checks from within Greenhouse Recruiting.
Add Refapp stage to a job's interview plan
Once the Greenhouse Recruiting / Refapp integration is enabled for your organization, you will be able to add Refapp as an interview stage.
To add the Refapp stage stage to an existing job, navigate to your job (via Jobs > Job Name) and click Job Setup.
Select Interview Plan on the left side of the page and click + Add a Stage.
Select the Refapp stage on the next window. When you're finished, click Add to apply the stage to the job's interview plan.
Configure the Refapp stage
After the Refapp stage has been added to the job's interview plan, you'll need to configure the stage. To configure the Refapp stage settings, hover over the stage and click the Edit 
icon.
In the Refapp Test to Send Candidate section, select the Test from the dropdown menu. These aren't really tests, but options for reference checking based on the project templates you've created in Refapp and the recruiting users that have been configured. Choose the project template that is linked to your name.
Assign at least one Greenhouse Recruiting user to grade / review the submitted reports. When you're finished, click Save.
Note: All configuration for the reference check will need to be done in Refapp via Project Templates.
Send and review a Refapp test in Greenhouse Recruiting
When candidates are moved into the Refapp interview stage, Greenhouse Recruiting will display a Send Test link.
Note: When you click to send a reference check from inside Greenhouse Recruiting, the e-mails will actually be sent by Refapp.
After it has been sent, an assessment's status will display in Greenhouse Recruiting.
Once the reference checking is completed (all referees have submitted their answers), the interview kit will contain a link to view the finished report in the Refapp application.
Click View Report to see the finished reference report in Refapp.
