Textio builds Lavalier, an AI-powered structured interviewing platform. Lavalier supports everyone involved in hiring, from recruiters and hiring managers to interview panelists, helping them prepare consistent role-specific questions, record and transcribe interviews, and compare candidates against the same criteria, so hiring decisions rest on structured evidence rather than recall.
Lavalier's integration with Greenhouse Recruiting allows users to sync open jobs, job posts, interview stages, candidates, applications, and scheduled interviews from Greenhouse into Lavalier; automatically record and transcribe interviews; and keep candidate progress aligned between the two systems.
Configure the Lavalier integration
Before you start
- Site Admin in Greenhouse Recruiting. Authorization from a non-admin user is rejected, and no connection is created.
- Owner permissions in Lavalier.
- Your Greenhouse URL. The domain only, with no https:// prefix. For example, app.greenhouse.io or app2.greenhouse.io.
Connect Lavalier to Greenhouse
In Lavalier, click your name in the top right and select Settings.
Go to Integrations, find Greenhouse in the list, and click Connect.
In the Connect with Greenhouse dialog, enter your Greenhouse URL. Enter the domain only, with no https:// prefix.
Click Continue to Greenhouse. Lavalier redirects you to Greenhouse's authorization pages.
Enter your email address and click Log in to Greenhouse. Sign in with your Greenhouse Site Admin account if you are prompted.
Review the access Lavalier is requesting. Select Authorize using a service account, then click Authorize. Greenhouse returns you to Lavalier automatically.
Recommended: authorize with a service account. Greenhouse ties the authorization to the individual who grants it. If that person later leaves your organization or is deactivated in Greenhouse, the integration stops syncing until another Site Admin reconnects it. Authorizing with a service account keeps the connection enabled through any user changes.
Lavalier confirms the connection and the first sync begins automatically.
On the Integrations page, Greenhouse shows as Connected with the time of the most recent sync.
Tip: The first sync can take several minutes depending on how many open jobs and active candidates you have. You do not need to stay on the page. Sync status is always visible on Settings > Integrations.
What Lavalier can access in Greenhouse
When you authorize the connection, Lavalier requests read access across your recruiting data, and write access only where it needs to keep Greenhouse up to date with actions a user takes in Lavalier. Review these before you authorize, and authorize with a service account where possible so the connection is not tied to one person's Greenhouse login.

Note: Lavalier only requests delete access where it also creates the item. It cannot delete anything it did not put there.
Use the Lavalier integration with Greenhouse Recruiting
Once connected, the integration works automatically. No per-interview setup is required.
What syncs from Greenhouse
Lavalier keeps the following in sync from Greenhouse:
- Open jobs and job posts.
- Applications and interview pipeline stages. Stage structure, including names, order, and duration, is managed in Greenhouse. Users can still add and edit interview questions for each stage inside Lavalier.
- Candidates with active applications in progress.
- Candidate resumes, imported automatically to the candidate's Lavalier profile.
- Scheduled interviews, which appear on the Lavalier Interview Calendar marked with a Greenhouse icon.
Which candidates appear: a candidate syncs into Lavalier when they have an active application on an open job and have moved past the first interview stage, typically Application Review. Candidates still in initial review will not appear until they advance in Greenhouse.
Record and transcribe a Greenhouse interview
- Schedule the interview in Greenhouse as you normally would. Virtual, phone, and in-person interviews are all supported.
- The interview syncs to Lavalier and appears on the Interview Calendar with a Greenhouse icon.
- Lavalier records and transcribes the interview at its scheduled time. For virtual interviews, Lavalier picks up the meeting link from Greenhouse so its notetaker joins automatically.
- After the interview, the transcript and Lavalier's structured summary are available on the candidate's Lavalier profile.
Note: Interviews that come from Greenhouse are managed in Greenhouse. If a user tries to cancel or reschedule one in Lavalier, Lavalier directs them to open the candidate in Greenhouse instead. The virtual meeting link is also set in Greenhouse.
Write interview feedback
Interviewers write their feedback in Lavalier, where the transcript and structured summary are available alongside the interview questions. Lavalier does not currently write feedback or scorecard results into Greenhouse. Instead, it provides a button in its interview feedback view which opens the matching Greenhouse scorecard, so interviewers can submit their scorecard in Greenhouse without hunting for the right candidate.
Add a candidate in Lavalier
- Create the candidate in Lavalier and add them to a synced role.
- The candidate shows a Pending creation in Greenhouse badge while the record is being created in Greenhouse. They cannot be edited or deleted in Lavalier while the badge is visible.
- Once the sync completes, usually within a few minutes, the badge clears and the candidate exists in both systems.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I complete the authorization?
Greenhouse authorization for partner integrations must be completed by a Greenhouse Site Admin. If a user without that role authorizes, Lavalier returns to the Integrations page without creating a connection. An existing connection is left untouched.
Lavalier says my Greenhouse URL is invalid.
Enter the domain only, with no https:// or http:// prefix. For example, app2.greenhouse.io rather than https://app2.greenhouse.io. The URL must be a greenhouse.io address.
Some of my Greenhouse candidates aren't showing up in Lavalier.
Lavalier does not sync every candidate. A candidate must have an active application on an open job and must have moved past the first interview stage in your Greenhouse pipeline.
An interview was cancelled in Greenhouse. What happens in Lavalier?
If the interview has no recording, transcript, or feedback yet, it is removed from Lavalier automatically. If it does have Lavalier data, the interview is kept so nothing is lost, but it is disconnected from Greenhouse and marked "Originally from Greenhouse."
An interviewer shows as being in a separate Lavalier team.
This happens when the interviewer assigned in Greenhouse uses an email address that already belongs to a different Lavalier team. Lavalier cannot invite interviewers across teams. Open the candidate in Greenhouse and assign an interviewer who belongs to the same Lavalier team. The change syncs back.
