Poetry is an AI workspace for talent acquisition teams. It helps recruiters turn job context into consistent, on-brand hiring content and supporting recruitment assets.
Poetry's integration with Greenhouse Recruiting automatically brings new and updated Greenhouse jobs into Poetry, allows users to browse and import roles that already exist, generates a Tactics Summary and recruitment assets, and lets recruiters publish an on-brand Job Advert back to Greenhouse as a new job post.
Configure the Poetry integration
Connecting is a one-time workspace-admin task. The person completing it must also have sufficient Greenhouse administrator permissions to approve access. Once connected, the integration is active for the whole Poetry workspace and runs in the background.
Open integrations in Poetry
In Poetry, open Admin and select Integrations. Under Applicant Tracking System, select Greenhouse.
Start the connection
Select Connect with Greenhouse.
Review the requested access
Review the access requested for jobs and openings, users and permissions, and organisation setup. Enter the email address for the Greenhouse account that will authorise the integration, then select Log in to Greenhouse.
Sign in to Greenhouse
Sign in to the correct Greenhouse Recruiting instance. Complete multi-factor authentication if it is enabled for your account.
Approve access
After signing in, review the permissions shown by Greenhouse and approve the connection. Greenhouse redirects you to Poetry when authorisation is complete and the integration shows Connected.
Permissions used by Poetry
The connection uses a read-mostly permission set. Poetry can read the following Greenhouse information:
- Jobs
- Job posts
- Users
- Departments
- Offices
- The only write permission is creating job posts. Poetry uses this when a recruiter publishes a completed Job Advert back to Greenhouse.
Manage Greenhouse users and publishing settings
When the connection is complete, Poetry displays the connected status and matches Poetry members to Greenhouse users by email address. Recruiters with a matching email publish as themselves in Greenhouse.
Review matched and unmatched users, and select Re-sync from Greenhouse after relevant user changes.
Choose a fallback Greenhouse user for publishing initiated by a Poetry recruiter who cannot be matched by email. Then confirm the publish mode used when Poetry sends a job advert to Greenhouse. The connection can also be disconnected from this page.
Security
Poetry validates incoming Greenhouse webhook requests using HMAC-SHA256 signature verification. This verification confirms that incoming webhook requests originate from Greenhouse Recruiting.
Use the Poetry integration
Automatic job sync
After the connection is active, recruiters continue creating and updating jobs in Greenhouse as normal. Poetry then:
- Automatically receives each newly created Greenhouse job
- Keeps the Poetry job current when supported job details or status change in Greenhouse
- Attributes synced changes to the configured Greenhouse user
- Begins role research and Tactics Summary generation
- No manual import is required for jobs created after the integration is connected. Browse from Greenhouse remains available for live roles that already existed or for a role that needs to be brought into Poetry directly.
ATS visibility
Jobs received from Greenhouse are identified within Poetry so recruiters can distinguish ATS-originated roles. The current integration does not add interface components or pop-ups directly within Greenhouse Recruiting.
Supported data sync
The current integration supports:
- Job information
- Hiring team and user resolution
- Job post updates
- Job status updates
Candidate syncing is not currently supported in this version of the integration.
Browse and import existing Greenhouse jobs
Open the job options
To bring an existing live Greenhouse role into Poetry manually, open Jobs in Poetry and select New Job in the upper-right corner.
Choose Greenhouse
Select From Greenhouse. This option appears after the Greenhouse instance has been connected to the Poetry workspace.
Select jobs to import
Poetry displays jobs available from the connected Greenhouse instance. Search by title or filter by status, then select one or more jobs. Jobs already imported into Poetry are marked and cannot be imported again. Select Import to bring the selected jobs into Poetry.
Tactics Summary and asset generation
When a role arrives in Poetry, the platform researches the role and market, considers the location, likely hiring challenges and available job information, then generates a Tactics Summary. The summary recommends and prioritises the recruitment assets most relevant to the role.
Recommended assets can include:
- Research summaries and kickoff preparation
- Boolean search strings and social outreach
- Job adverts, personas and job descriptions
- Candidate interview guidance
- Incoming Greenhouse updates keep the role's source information current without overwriting the recruitment assets created or refined by the team. Poetry remains the source of truth for recruitment content.
Send a Poetry job advert to Greenhouse
Open the imported job
Open the relevant job in Poetry and create or review its Job Advert asset. Confirm that the advert is ready before publishing it back to Greenhouse.
Send the advert
Select Send Job Advert to Greenhouse in the upper-right corner of the job. Poetry sends the on-brand, in-context job advert to the linked Greenhouse job using the publish mode configured by the admin.
Current scope: The integration currently publishes the Job Advert asset back to Greenhouse as a new job post. Other Poetry assets and candidate records are not sent to Greenhouse through this workflow.

Troubleshooting
I can't connect Greenhouse
Only a Poetry workspace admin can start the connection. The Greenhouse user approving access must also have sufficient administrator permissions in Greenhouse.
A new Greenhouse job didn't appear in Poetry
Confirm that the Greenhouse panel shows Connected and a recent update. If the connection is healthy, use Browse from Greenhouse to import the role directly.
The connection needs reconnecting
Select Reconnect with Greenhouse and approve access again. Existing settings and roles already brought into Poetry are retained.
Browse or publishing is unavailable
Browsing, importing and publishing use the access approved during sign-in. Reconnect the integration if that access has lapsed.
Changes are attributed to the wrong person
Re-sync Greenhouse users so Poetry can match recruiters by email, then confirm the fallback user for anyone who is not matched.
