Alex is the AI-powered interviewing platform. The integration enables organizations to conduct live video interviews with candidates through Alex, with interview notes automatically written into Greenhouse for streamlined hiring workflows.
Connect Greenhouse to Alex AI
Alex AI connects to Greenhouse using the Harvest V3 API. Rather than creating and sharing an API key, a Greenhouse user authorizes the integration directly.
Before you begin: this must be completed by a user with Site Admin permissions in Greenhouse. If you are not a Site Admin the authorization will not complete — and it can appear to succeed — so it is worth confirming first.
When logged in as an admin in Alex AI, go into Settings > Connect your ATS, and select Greenhouse.
In the Greenhouse Settings panel, find the Harvest API v3 section and click Authorize Harvest v3.
Select Greenhouse (V3) to continue, and you will be taken to Greenhouse's sign-in.
Greenhouse will show you exactly what Alex is requesting access to before you sign in. Review that list, sign in with your Greenhouse Site Admin account, and approve.
Alex AI uses this access to read jobs and job posts, read and update candidates and applications, add notes to candidates, and read users. The authorization screen lists the full permission set of the standard connector, which is broader than the access Alex AI uses. Alex AI does not delete candidates, applications, or any other Greenhouse records.
Once you have signed in and approved — about 30 seconds — you will be returned to Alex AI and the Harvest API v3 section will show Authorized. There is no Harvest API key to generate or paste; the authorization replaces it.
After your connection gets verified, the Greenhouse Assessment API Key will be generated. (Look above at it)
Use the Alex AI integration with Greenhouse Recruiting
Once the Alex AI integration is enabled for your organization, you will be able to add an Alex AI Interview as an interview stage.
You can send an assessment to a candidate by selecting the Send Test button next to the interview stage.
Note: When you send a test in Greenhouse Recruiting, the instructions are actually sent by Alex AI.
After it has been sent, an assessment's status will display in Greenhouse Recruiting.
Once the candidate has completed their interview, the Interview Kit will contain an overall evaluation of how the candidate performed on the interview, as well as a link to view the report directly in the Alex AI dashboard. Additionally a note will be added to the application to indicate that the candidate completed the interview.
