Resume Sieve (the Sieve) is a highly specialized resume screening solution that focuses on the screening, scoring, and rank ordering of candidates. Our proprietary technology substantially improves user productivity by rapidly comparing resumes against user selected job requirements.
Greenhouse Recruiting’s integration with the Sieve allows you to connect your Greenhouse account with your Resume Sieve account to share data and reduce repetitive data entry. Once connected, you can import jobs and candidate resumes from Greenhouse to your Resume Sieve account with a few simple clicks. In this article, we will cover how to:
- Configure User Setup Permissions in Greenhouse Recruiting
- Create a Harvest API Key for the Greenhouse/Resume Sieve Integration
- Access your profile in Resume Sieve
- Select Greenhouse as your service provider
- Enter your primary email account used in Greenhouse and add your Harvest API Key to the Sieve.
Configure User Setup Permissions in Greenhouse Recruiting
To enable the Greenhouse/Resume Sieve integration, you will need the developer permission Can manage ALL organization’s API Credentials.
Contact a Greenhouse user in your organization with Site Admin level permissions with the additional user-specific permission Can edit another user's advanced permissions to apply the API credential management permission to your account. Have the user with Site Admin level permissions edit your user account's permissions by navigating to the Configure icon > Users > Your Name).
The user with Site Admin level permissions should navigate to the Permissions panel on your user page and expand the Developer Permissions dropdown menu.
Select Can manage ALL organization’s API Credentials so that a check is in the checkbox. When finished, click Save.
Repeat as necessary for any other user that should have access to set up the integration.
Create a Harvest API Key for the Greenhouse/Resume Sieve Integration
To create a Harvest API key for the integration, click on the Configure icon in the upper right-hand corner. Navigate to Dev Center on the left-hand panel.
From the Dev Center page, click API Credential Management.
From the API Credential Management page, click Create New API Key to generate the API key for Resume Sieve.
In the Create New Credential dialog box, make the following selections:
- API Type: Harvest
- Description: Resume Sieve Harvest API Key
When finished, click Manage Permissions to generate the Harvest API key and automatically assign it the appropriate permissions required by Resume Sieve.
In the subsequent dialog box, click Copy to save your API key to your clipboard. Store the API key in a secure location to provide to Resume Sieve in the next step. Click I have stored the API Key once you have copied and saved the key.
Note: You cannot access the full API key again after clicking I have stored the API Key. If you lose your API key and need to access it later, you must create a new API key, provide it to the integration partner, and then revoke access to the original key.
On the subsequent page, confirm the following permissions are assigned to your new API key:
On the Manage API Key Permissions page, click the checkbox for the permissions needed (The screenshots below list all the permissions the user should assign to the API Key for the integration.) When finished, click Update.
If any of the permissions marked above are not checked, place a check in the box next to the appropriate permission. Click Save when finished.
Your Harvest API key for the Greenhouse/Resume Sieve integration is created and configured. Please follow the directions below to enter your Harvest API key on your Resume Sieve profile screen so that the application can complete the integration.
How to use the Resume Sieve Integration with Greenhouse
Sign in using your Resume Sieve account or click “Sign up” to create a new account.
Create a New Account
Enter your email, a password, and click Create account.
Enter your contact details. Enter your organization name. If your organization’s name is not present in the dropdown list, click “Add Organization” and complete the address.
After you complete your registration, the above message will be displayed. Please check your email for a verification link.
After opening the above email from the Sieve, please click “Verify my email” to confirm your email address.
Click on the user icon and then click on “My Profile”.
Scroll down to the Connect to Your Service Provider section. Using the available dropdown list, select Greenhouse and click “Connect Service”.
In the popup window, please enter your primary email used with Greenhouse and your API Key copied from Greenhouse. Click “Connect”.
The Sieve will validate the key provided and display a message if the connection was successful.
Import a Job
From the Job screen click the “Import” button and select Greenhouse from the dropdown list.
A list of open jobs where the end-user is a member of the hiring team is displayed. Select a Job from the list and click the “import” button.
The job name and job responsibilities are imported from Greenhouse. Click the “Populate Job” button and the job description will be parsed. You can also manually enter the job criteria.
If you opt for the job description to be parsed, any previously entered job criteria will be replaced. Click “Proceed” to parse the job description or “Cancel” to manually enter the job criteria.
Based on the parsed job description, a list of skills is displayed. Select the skills desired and whether each is required or preferred. When done, click “Proceed”.
The weighting of requirements can be reviewed and adjusted if necessary.
When you're satisfied that the job criteria has been sufficiently captured, click “Save & Done”.
From the Resume screen click the “Import” button and select Greenhouse from the dropdown list.
A list of previously imported jobs is displayed. Select a job from the list and enter an optional name for the import group. Click the “Import” button.
The Sieve imports from Greenhouse the candidate resumes associated with the selected job. Each imported resume is parsed and stored. Click the “Refresh” button to see the updated resume information populated on the screen.
Imported resumes can be displayed and downloaded if required.
From the My Sieve screen select a job from the dropdown list.
Using the resume dropdown list, select the appropriate resumes to include in the sieve. The resumes can be selected by date range or by import groups.
One or more import groups may be selected, then click “Apply”.
When finished with your job and resume selections, click” Sieve Now”.
The summary display of the Sieve evaluation results, all evaluated resumes fall into one of two groups -- Meets All or Does Not Meet All with respect to the required criteria. This grouping emphasizes the importance of the must-have items in the job requisition.
The user can click on any row in the Sieve results and display Resume Detail screen.

After logging into Resume Sieve, click on the help icon (?) and select “Connect with Support”.
From this page you can search for information or open a new support ticket.
When opening a new support ticket, please provide your email address and a brief description of the issue. A support team member will follow up with you.
You will see a message confirming the creation of your support ticket.
You will also receive an email confirming the creation of your support ticket and a link to view status updates. You can access our self-service portal to raise support tickets and track their status.
