Talent Matching helps you cut through pipeline noise by showing which candidates are a strong fit for the role you’re hiring for. Using AI and your defined calibration criteria, it highlights relevant skills (including industry experience), provides match scores, and makes it easier to find qualified candidates.
Talent Matching is assistive AI, not automated-decision-making. It does not automatically advance or reject candidates. Recruiters and hiring managers remain responsible for all hiring decisions.
Turn on Talent Matching for your organization
Talent Matching can be found on the AI Tools page. Site Admins can enable this feature for your organization.
Note: Both Talent Matching and Resume parsing must be enabled to use the full Talent Matching functionality.
If your legal team requires candidate AI opt‑out, you can enable additional controls on the Configure > Real Talent > Talent Matching settings page. This allows candidates to request manual (non‑AI) review for specific jobs.
Configure the disclaimer for your job posts
Some jurisdictions may require that you disclose the use of AI tools during the application process.
To update the disclaimer for your job post, go to the Talent Matching settings. (The settings page can either be found under Configure > Real Talent > Talent Matching or clicking Open settings on the AI Tools page.)
Click the Edit button.
Turn on the disclaimer by clicking the checkbox and following the instructions on the page to update the disclaimer language.
When you're finished, click Save.

[CUSTOMER] uses AI technology to assist in our hiring process. We want to be transparent about how we use this technology and your rights.
We use Greenhouse Software’s Talent Matching feature to assist with reviewing applications for the skills and experience we have decided are important for this role.
How it works: Talent Matching reviews your resume and responses to application questions to determine the extent to which your qualifications match the job requirements we selected for this role. Our recruiters actively direct the operation of Talent Matching with our hiring managers and establish the relevant job requirements and the desired weighting of each requirement.
Human oversight: Our recruiters and hiring managers review all output from Talent Matching and make the final decision with respect to each application. Talent Matching does not automatically disposition any candidate or make hiring decisions.

If your organization enables candidate AI opt‑out in the Talent Matching settings, candidates can use a link from this disclaimer to request manual evaluation instead of AI‑assisted review.
Open Talent Matching on a job
Go to your job dashboard for the role you want to review. When Talent Matching is turned on for your organization, there will be a Talent Matching section of your dashboard that includes basic pipeline data to help guide your application review. Click the arrow in the top right corner to open Talent Matching.
Note: Talent Matching is only available on candidates in the first Application Review stage in your pipeline.
Set calibration
Before any action can occur in Talent Matching, you must set up your calibration for the role. The calibration is a set of your defined and weighted criteria that is used to calculate how strongly a candidate matches your settings.
You can find the calibration by clicking Create calibration in the top right corner of the page.
Using the fields in the left column, you can quickly add skills by describing key requirements for your role in a couple of sentences or you can insert the suggested prompt. Include the job description and, if available, the scorecard attributes.
When you're ready, click Generate calibration.
Refine your calibration, in the right column, by adding skills from the list of suggested skills or clicking Add skill manually.
After a skill is added, rate its importance to the role. This will be used as part of the matching to figure out where you want to put emphasis for the role.
To further refine your calibration, complete any additional fields and click Save calibration.
Review candidates using Talent Matching
After a calibration is completed and applied, the candidate's match score will display on the table. Candidates are grouped by match score and ordered by application date within each group.
You can click a candidate's match score to see what skills were matched in the calibration.
A match score can be one of five categories:
- Strong match
- Good match
- Partial match
- Limited match
- Needs manual review
Note: Candidates who need manual review must be assigned a match score by a user. Read more about manual review.
To view candidate details, click a name on the list. The side panel will expand and show:
- An explanation of why the candidate received their match score, shown as a breakdown of matched experience, industries, and skills based on your calibration
- When applicable, specific industry matches, for example, “Media Production at SceneCloud”
- The candidate's resume, with matched and similar keywords highlighted based on your calibration
Depending on the candidate, the match summary may also display text such as “X of Y matches” to help you quickly see how many calibration criteria the candidate meets.
Filters at the top of the page can be used to narrow the list.
Available columns can be controlled by clicking the icon next to the calibration button.
Override a candidate's match score
You may want to override the score if you've manually reviewed the candidate's resume and decided that the information wasn't accurately represented.
Open the side panel.
Under the match summary, click Override match score.
Follow the steps in the window to override the score.
Find candidates who need manual review
In some cases, a candidate may need to be manually reviewed by your team. Candidates can appear as Needs manual review when:
- Their resume could not be processed by AI
- AI is turned off for the job
- Your organization has enabled AI opt‑out and the candidate has chosen manual review instead of AI‑assisted scoring
In the Talent Matching table, these candidates are grouped under the Needs manual review match category. To find them quickly, use the filter at the top of the page.
These candidates are not evaluated by Talent Matching and must be assessed manually using your standard review process.
Note: Candidates who need manual review must be assigned a match score by a user if you want them to appear under another match category.
View calibration history
If your organization has calibration history enabled, you can review previous versions of a calibration for a job.
Calibration history helps you do the following:
- See how your criteria have changed over time
- Understand which calibration was active when a candidate received a particular match score
- Re‑use a previous calibration version as a starting point without overwriting history
To open calibration history from the Talent Matching table, click Edit calibration in the top right corner. Select the History tab.
Review the list of previous calibration versions, including who made each change, when it was made, and which version is currently active.
To start from a previous version, open it from the History tab and follow the prompts to apply it as your current calibration.
When you apply a new or previous calibration version, Talent Matching recalculates match scores for current candidates based on the active calibration.
Edit calibration
To modify your calibration for the role, click Edit calibration in the top right corner and update the information in the fields.
After a calibration is updated and applied, all current candidates in the Application Review stage will be re‑evaluated and assigned a new match score based on the updated calibration. Any time you update or reapply a calibration, it’s saved as a new, active version in the History tab.
Turn off Talent Matching for a job
To turn off Talent Matching for a role, go to the job's dashboard and select the toggle. When AI is turned off for a role, new candidates don’t receive AI‑generated match scores and candidates must be reviewed manually.
Other functions in Talent Matching
Beyond match scores and calibration, the Talent Matching table includes bulk actions and additional review tools. From this table, you can:
- Select multiple candidates to advance, reject, or leave feedback on them.
- Click More actions for additional options like sending email, adding tags, running fraud reports, and more.
- Open a candidate’s side panel to review their resume and associated documents.
- Save candidates for later by clicking the bookmark icon next to their name.
