Greenhouse and CLEAR® have partnered to offer secure identity verification within the hiring process. This partnership allows employers to confirm candidate identities through CLEAR®’s trusted service, adding confidence and safety without sharing personal documents directly with the employer.

Why am I being asked to complete a CLEAR® verification?

Employers use CLEAR® to confirm a candidate’s identity in a secure and consistent way. It protects both candidates and companies from impersonation or fraud.

Is CLEAR® making decisions about who gets hired?

No. CLEAR® only confirms that a person is who they say they are. It does not screen, score, or influence hiring decisions in any way. It’s simply a way to verify identity and check that the person behind the profile is real.

How does CLEAR® support fairness for underrepresented or LGBTQ+ candidates?

CLEAR®’s technology is designed to be agnostic to race, gender, and age. It doesn't make decisions based on demographic attributes. Additionally, CLEAR®’s flexible matching can use stable identifiers like date of birth instead of relying solely on names which may change over time.

Does facial hair or weight gain impact verification?

CLEAR's facial recognition technology focuses on stable features, making it unaffected by changes like weight, facial hair, or expressions. Obstructions like sunglasses or masks can interfere — but religious head coverings are fully supported, as long as the face and eyes are visible.

How do I complete a CLEAR® verification?

CLEAR® verification requests will be sent to the email the employer has on record. Once the email is received, you must create a free MyGreenhouse account to complete the request. If you already have a MyGreenhouse account, you can access the CLEAR® task on your dashboard.

What documents are accepted?

A government-issued ID, such as a passport, is required to complete identity verification. You can view the list of accepted document types for your country here.

Can I decline a verification request?

Yes, candidates can decline to complete a verification request and should contact the recruiter for next steps.

Is there a time limit for completing verification requests?

Verification requests must be completed within 14 days of receiving the email, or within 10 days of starting the verification process.

Who do I contact to check the status of my application or to appeal a verification result?

Contact the employer and discuss it with the recruiter directly.

How can I update my information or ID?

If you need to update identifying information, such as the government ID you used during verification, you can contact CLEAR® directly. Email memberservices@clearme.com or start a chat with CLEAR’s Digital Ambassador here.
