How can we help you?

Referral Booster

Referral Booster is a Slack app which streamlines the candidate referral experience for your team and allows recruiters/admins to curate referrals at scale with automated job boosts in various Slack channels. With Referral Booster you can highlight the newest jobs, oldest jobs, jobs with the fewest applicants, or other specific jobs.

Greenhouse Recruiting's integration with Referral Booster pulls all open jobs from Greenhouse into Slack where users can search through them and add referrals at will. Any referrals submitted through Referral Booster will immediately create a new candidate/opportunity in Greenhouse with the proper information and referrer attributed. In this article, we will cover how to:

Configure User Setup Permissions in Greenhouse Recruiting

In order to enable the Greenhouse Recruiting / Referral Boost integration, you will need the developer permission Can manage ALL organization’s API Credentials.

Contact a Greenhouse Recruiting user in your organization with Site Admin level permissions with the additional user-specific permission Can edit another user's advanced permissions to apply the API credential management permission to your account. Have the user with Site Admin level permissions edit your user account's permissions by navigating to the Configure icon configure.png  > Users > Your Name.

The user with Site Admin level permissions should navigate to the User-Specific Permissions panel on your user page and expand the Developer Permissions dropdown menu.

Select Can manage ALL organization’s API Credentials so that a check is in the checkbox. When finished, click Save.

Repeat as necessary for any other user who should have access to set up the integration.

Create a Harvest API Key for the Greenhouse Recruiting / Referral Boost Integration

To create a Harvest API key for the integration, click on the Configure icon configure.png in the upper right-hand corner. Navigate to Dev Center on the left-hand panel.

From the Dev Center page, click API Credential Management.

From the API Credential Management page, click Create New API Key to generate the API key for Referral Boost.

From the Create new credential dialog box, give your API key a name and select Harvest from the Type dropdown menu. When finished, click Create.

Your Harvest API key for the Greenhouse Recruiting / Referral Boost integration is created and configured. Navigate to the newly created API Key. Click Copy, and use the copied key for the next step.

Enable the Greenhouse Recruiting / Referral Boost Integration

With your Harvest API key copied, open Referral Booster in Slack so you can add the key and finalize the integration.

Add the Harvest API key to Referral Booster and select Next. Some tests will be run to ensure the right permissions have been added to the key. Follow the directions that appear on-screen.

Use the Referral Boost Integration

Once your integration is finalized, open jobs will be synced from Greenhouse into Referral Booster within 15 minutes. Then, users can easily filter those jobs by department or location and add referrals accordingly.

Clicking any Add Referral button will open up the referral submission form where users can input information about the candidate they’d like to refer. If there are specific questions or fields that need to be filled out for a referral and you have a form set up in Greenhouse where these questions/fields are listed, reach out to and we will pull that form into this sequence programmatically.

After a referral is submitted, the candidate will populate in Greenhouse with the proper referrer attributed.

As candidates are updated and moved through stages in Greenhouse, Referral Booster will reflect those updates in Slack, so that the user can keep track of their submissions without needing to ping Admins or Recruiters for updates.
