Occasionally, you might encounter a Greenhouse Recruiting link in an email or in the support site that leads you to an error page. If your team uses Single Sign-On (SSO) to log into Greenhouse Recruiting, such an error could indicate the link you clicked does not match your organization's SSO subdomain configuration. To resolve this issue, you will need to edit the link to include your custom subdomain.
In this article, we will discuss how to check if your organization uses a custom subdomain, as well as how to add your custom subdomain to existing links if needed.
Check for custom subdomain
Some organizations using SSO to access Greenhouse Recruiting opt to enable a custom subdomain. If configured, this subdomain will be included in the URL for each page you visit in Greenhouse Recruiting.
To determine if your organization has configured a custom subdomain, navigate to your Greenhouse Recruiting Dashboard and review the URL in your browser's address bar. If this URL starts with anything other than app
, app2
, app3
, app4
, or app5
, your organization is using a custom subdomain.
Note: The organization above is not using a custom subdomain, as the user's Dashboard URL starts with app2
.
Example: A user at the company Just Juice navigates to their Greenhouse Recruiting Dashboard and reviews the listed URL. The user sees the following URL: https://justjuice.greenhouse.io/dashboard. In this case, Just Juice has configured a custom subdomain of justjuice
. Users who work at Just Juice will only be able to access Greenhouse Recruiting links that include the justjuice custom subdomain. Attempting to access Greenhouse Recruiting links that begin with app
might lead Just Juice users to an error page.
Meanwhile, a user at the company Eucalyptus navigates to their Greenhouse Recruiting Dashboard and reviews the listed URL. This user sees the following: https://app2.greenhouse.io/dashboard. This indicates Eucalyptus has not configured a custom subdomain. Users at Eucalyptus will access Greenhouse Recruiting through links that begin with app2
.
Manually add custom subdomain to existing link
If your organization uses a custom subdomain to access Greenhouse Recruiting, you might not be able to access Greenhouse links that do not include your custom subdomain. Should that occur, we recommend the following steps:
- Review the link or URL you received and check to see if it begins with
app
,app2
,app3
,app4
, orapp5
. - If the URL includes any of the noted subdomains, copy the URL and paste it into your browser's address bar.
- Edit the URL to remove the
app
,app2
, orapp3
etc., subdomain, and replace it with your organization's custom subdomain. - Tap the return key on your keyboard.
