WOTC.com provides business owners the opportunity to profit from their recently hired employees by maximizing the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC).
Greenhouse Recruiting's integration with WOTC.com allows a request for candidate information to be sent automatically to candidates upon hire. Once a candidate completes the form, a WOTC status update will be listed on the candidate's Greenhouse Recruiting profile.

Configure User Setup Permissions in Greenhouse Recruiting
Contact a Greenhouse Recruiting user in your organization with Site Admin level permissions with the additional user-specific permission Can edit another user's advanced permissions to apply the following permissions to your account:
- Can manage ALL organization's API Credentials
- Can manage and configure web hooks
Have the user with Site Admin level permissions edit your user account's permissions by navigating to the Configure icon > Users > Your Name.
The user with Site Admin level permissions should navigate to the Permissions panel on your user page and expand the Developer Permissions dropdown menu.
Select Can manage and configure web hooks and Can manage ALL organization's API Credentials so a check is in each checkbox. When finished, click Save.
In addition to the above developer permission, the user configuring the integration should also have a Site Admin permission level or a Job Admin permission level with the additional user-specific permission Can manage custom fields.
Repeat these steps for all users who should have access to set up the integration.
Create a Harvest API Key for the Greenhouse Recruiting / WOTC.com Integration
To create a Harvest API key for the integration, click on the Configure icon in the upper right-hand corner. Navigate to Dev Center on the left-hand panel.
From the Dev Center page, click API Credential Management.
From the API Credential Management page, click Create New API Key to generate the API key for WOTC.com.
From the Create new credential dialog box, give your API key a name and select Harvest from the Type dropdown menu. When finished, click Create.
On the Manage API Key Permissions page, grant your Harvest API key the following permission:
- PATCH: Edit Candidate
When finished, click Update at the bottom of the page.
Your Greenhouse Recruiting Harvest API Key is created. Navigate to the newly created API Key. Click Copy and send the key to your WOTC.com onboarding team so they can set up the integration.
Create the WOTC.com Web Hook
Before enabling the WOTC.com web hook, you will need to retrieve two pieces of information from the WOTC.com team:
- WOTC.com's Endpoint URL
- WOTC.com's Secret Key
To retrieve this information, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (212) 635-9500.
Once you have the information outlined above, click the Configure icon in the upper right-hand corner. Navigate to Dev Center on the left-hand panel.
From the Dev Center page, click Web Hooks. Click Web Hooks again from the subsequent page.
You will be directed to a page where you can create a new web hook. From this Create A New Web Hook page, provide the following details:
- Name: We suggest WOTC.com Integration
- When: Be sure to select the correct action so the web hook fires at the appropriate event in Greenhouse Recruiting [Candidate has been hired]
- Endpoint URL: The Endpoint URL provided to you by the WOTC.com Customer Success team
- Secret Key: The Secret Key provided to you by the WOTC.com Customer Success team
When finished, click Create Web hook.
That is it! Your Greenhouse Recruiting account and WOTC.com account can now talk to each other. These settings dictate execution of the WOTC.com web hook once the end user transitions the candidate into an appropriate stage for a given job.
Configure Custom Fields for the Greenhouse Recruiting / WOTC.com Integration
To reflect WTOC.com candidate statuses in Greenhouse Recruiting, you will need to add a custom candidate field in Greenhouse Recruiting called WOTC Status.
To create the custom candidate field, click the Configure icon in the upper right-hand corner and select Custom Options on the left-hand panel.
From the Custom Options page, click Candidates.
From the subsequent page, click + Add Field.
Use the subsequent dialog box to create the WOTC Status field using the following parameters:
- Field Name: WOTC Status
- Field Type: Yes/No
Click Save when finished.
After creating and saving the custom candidate field, find the new WOTC Status field in your list of custom candidate fields, then click the pencil icon to the right of the field's name.
In the Edit Candidate Field dialog box, copy the Immutable Field Key and provide this to the WOTC.com team.
Use the Greenhouse Recruiting / WOTC.com Integration
The Greenhouse Recruiting / WOTC.com integration is triggered when a candidate is marked as hired in Greenhouse Recruiting. The candidate will receive an email asking them to complete a WOTC form.
After clicking the Fill Out WOTC Form link in the email, the candidate will be directed to the form for completion. The WOTC form asks for basic personal information (name, birthday, address, etc.) as well as employment information, and questions regarding government assistance and veteran status.
Once the candidate has completed the form, the WOTC Status will be updated in Greenhouse Recruiting under the candidate's Details tab to indicate form completion.
