VidReferencing by VidCruiter integration

VidCruiter offers Automated Reference Checking which can be integrated directly within Greenhouse. Greenhouse Recruiting's integration with VidCruiter allows you to seamlessly add VidCruiter's Reference Checking Assessment to a job's interview plan. In this article, we will cover how to:

Enable the VidCruiter integration with Greenhouse Recruiting

To start, contact your VidCruiter representative ( to receive your API key. Once you've received your API key, fill out the form at or click here to open a ticket.

Note: Do not send the API key in this initial email.

The Greenhouse Technical Support team will respond with a SendSafely link for you to enter your API key. A notification is sent to the Greenhouse Technical Support team after you've entered your API key, and they will email you to confirm that your API key has been set up in your account and your integration is enabled.

Note: To verify your identity, the Greenhouse Technical Support team might request you provide a Support Verification Code before adding the API key to your organization's account.

Add VidCruiter stage to job’s interview plan

Once the Greenhouse/VidCruiter integration is enabled for your organization, you can add the VidCruiter Reference Check Assessment as an interview stage.

To do this for an existing job, navigate to the Job setup page (Jobs Job Name Job Setup in the left-side navigation bar).

From the Job Setup page, navigate to the Interview Plan tab and click Add Stage.

From the Add Stage window, select the VidCruiter stage.

When finished, click Add.

Configure the VidCruiter stage

Once the stage has been added to the job's interview plan, click the pencil icon to edit the VidCruiter step.

Use the provided dropdown menu to choose assessments that you have previously set up in VidCruiter.

Next, assign at least one Greenhouse user to grade/review submitted assessments.

Click Save at the bottom of the page when done.

Note: All configurations of the assessment itself, including the email template, needs to be done in VidCruiter.

Send and review the test

When candidates are moved into the VidCruiter interview stage, Greenhouse displays a Send Test link.

Note: When you send a test from Greenhouse, the interview instructions are sent by VidCruiter.

VidCruiter contacts the candidate via email, asking them to enter reference information for a specified number of references. Once the information is entered by the applicant, each reference is automatically emailed with a link to complete the Reference Check.

The status of the assessment is viewable in Greenhouse from the candidate's profile.

Once all references complete the Reference Check, Greenhouse populates a shareable link to view all of the Reference Check responses provided for the candidate.

Click the link within the Interview Kit to view the submitted test within the VidCruiter platform.
