Greenhouse Recruiting’s integration with Starred allows you to create workflows to automatically send feedback surveys to candidates when actions such as ‘Candidate Hired’ or ‘Candidate Rejected’ take place in Greenhouse. In this article, we will cover:

The Greenhouse Recruiting/Starred integration supports the following functions when creating workflows.
Candidate Hired - Triggers when a candidate has been hired.
Candidate Rejected - Triggers when a candidate or prospect’s application is rejected
Configure User Setup Permissions in Greenhouse Recruiting
In order to enable the Greenhouse/Starred integration, you will need the developer permission Can manage ALL organization’s API Credentials.
Contact a Greenhouse user in your organization with Site Admin level permissions with the additional user-specific permission Can edit another user's advanced permissions to apply the API credential management permission to your account. Have the user with Site Admin level permissions edit your user account's permissions by navigating to the Configure icon > Users > Your Name)
The user with Site Admin level permissions should navigate to the Permissions panel on your user page and expand the Developer Permissions dropdown menu.
Select Can manage ALL organization’s API Credentials so that a check is in the checkbox. When finished, click Save.
Repeat as necessary for any other user that should have access to set up the integration.
Get Started with Greenhouse integration in Starred Connect
To get started with Greenhouse/Starred integration, navigate to ‘Connect’ from within Starred application.
In Starred Connect, click on ‘Connect’ button on Greenhouse integration card to set up the integration.
Follow the instructions in the following sections to create the Harvest API Key and Web hooks to complete the set up.
Create a Harvest API Key for the Greenhouse/Starred Integration
To create a Harvest API key for the integration, click on the Configure icon in the upper right-hand corner. Navigate to Dev Center on the left-hand panel.
From the Dev Center page, click API Credential Management.
From the API Credential Management page, click Create New API Key to generate the API key for Starred.
From the Create new credential dialog box, give your API key a name and select Harvest from the Type dropdown menu. When finished, click Create.
On the Manage API Key Permissions page, Jobs > GET: Retrieve Job, Users > GET: Retrieve User. When finished, click Update.
Your Harvest API key for the Greenhouse/Starred integration is created and configured.
Enter Harvest API Key in Starred Connect
Enter your Harvest API key to Starred Connect and click on ‘Continue’ button.
Retrieve Starred’s Endpoint URL and Secret Key
Before enabling the Greenhouse/Starred integration, Greenhouse will need two pieces of information:
- Starred’s Endpoint URL
- Starred’s Secret Key
You can retrieve this information from Starred Connect Web hook setup page.
Create Web Hooks in Greenhouse
With Starred’s endpoint URL and Secret Key copied, and your Greenhouse user permissions enabled, you are ready to enable the Greenhouse/Starred integration.
To enable the integration, click the Configure icon in the upper right-hand corner and navigate to Dev Center on the left-hand panel.
From the Dev Center page, click Web Hooks. Click Web Hooks from the subsequent page.
You will be directed to a new page where you Create a New Web Hook. From this page provide the following details:
- Name: we suggest Starred Integration
- When: Be sure to select the right web hook so that the web hook fires at the appropriate event in Greenhouse “Candidate has been hired” and “Candidate or Prospect rejected”
- Endpoint URL: The Endpoint URL retrieved from the Starred Connect
- Secret Key: The Secret Key retrieved from the Starred Connect
When finished, click Create Web hook.
Finish Integration Setup
Once you have created both web hooks in Greenhouse, click on ‘Validate Webhooks’ button in Starred Connect and once both web hooks are validated (as shown in the image below), click on ‘Finish Setup’.
That's it! Your Greenhouse account and Starred account can now talk to each other.
Once your integration is all set up, you can go ahead and create workflows to automate feedback surveys on different touchpoints. You can create a workflow from scratch by selecting Greenhouse as a trigger and Starred as action or you can create a workflow using pre-built templates.
