Custom dashboards allow teams to track key hiring metrics in one place. Users can create dashboards using prebuilt or custom widgets, arrange and resize them, and share or export visualizations for broader insights.
Use custom dashboards
To create a custom dashboard, click Reports on your navigation bar.
Click Create > Custom dashboard.
From here, you can click the name of the dashboard to edit it.
To add reports to your new dashboard, click Add widget in the top-right corner. You’ll see several options for adding a widget:
- From essential library – Choose from a set of prebuilt, ready-to-use widgets.
- From my saved custom report – Use a widget based on a report you've already built.
- From scratch – Build a new widget using the report builder.
- Text – Add a simple text card to provide context or explanation.
Select a widget option and follow the prompts to configure it. You can rename the widget, adjust its filters, and choose how the data should be displayed. When you're done, click Add widget.
Now that the widget is added to your dashboard, you can hover over the bottom right side to resize it. You can also hover at the top of a widget to grab it and move it around.
Repeat this process to add more widgets to your dashboard.
What is a widget?
Widgets are visual building blocks of a dashboard. Each widget displays a chart, graph, or key metric based on a specific report. Clicking a widget title opens the full report view.
Users on the Advanced and Expert tiers can create custom widgets from scratch using the report builder. This allows for deeper customization, such as selecting specific data fields, applying filters, and choosing from different chart types.
How to build a custom visualization (Advanced+)
To create a widget from scratch, navigate to your dashboard:
Click Add widget > From scratch. Choose your report type and click Customize.
From the next screen, Add columns to and adjust any filters on your report and choose Next: Build visualization.
This is where you define how your data should appear on the dashboard.
In the Settings panel on the left, start by choosing the Chart Type. Available options may include bar, line, or pie chart types.
Under Axis, use the dropdowns to define how your data is grouped and measured.
- X-Axis – Select the field to use for horizontal grouping (e.g., “Department Name” to compare by department).
- Y-Axis – Choose the metric to measure (e.g., “Candidates Added” to display counts).
-
Aggregate – Define how to summarize the data.
- Sum – Adds all values together (e.g., total candidates added)
- Average – Calculates the mean of all values
- Count – Counts all entries, including duplicates
- Distinct – Counts only unique values
- Max – Displays the highest value in the group
- Min – Displays the lowest value in the group
- Median – Returns the middle value, reducing the impact of outliers
In the chart preview on the right, your selections will automatically update to reflect the changes.
To enhance readability, leave Show tooltip on point hover checked. This adds interactive data points when hovering over the visualization.
Once you're happy with the configuration, click Add widget in the top-right corner to add the visualization to your dashboard.
To view only relevant data across all widgets, click Filters at the top of the dashboard. Choose from a list of available options such as a job custom field, departments, offices or date ranges and the dashboard will update accordingly.
Share a custom dashboard
Custom dashboards can be shared with other users in your organization or exported as image files.
To share a dashboard directly in Greenhouse, click the Share button in the top-right corner. A modal will appear where you can search for and select specific users. Once shared, those users will have access to view the dashboard in their My dashboards tab.
To share a static version outside of Greenhouse, click the three-dot menu in the top-right of the dashboard or any widget and select Download as PNG. This exports the visualization as an image that can be included in presentations, emails, or reports.
Find your saved dashboards
All of your custom dashboards are saved under the My dashboards tab in the Reports section.
From here, you can open, edit, or delete your dashboards.
