Two-step verification adds an extra layer of security to your Greenhouse account. When you log in, you’ll enter your password and then verify your identity using a code sent to your email or phone.

Email 2-step verification is required for all users who do not log in using single sign-on (SSO) and cannot be disabled.

If you log in with a Google account, or a single sign-on provider like OneLogin, you can enable SMS (text message) 2-step verification to add additional security to your account.

Note: This article contains information related to an upcoming feature.

On the following dates, email 2-step verification is now required for all users who log in with an email and password. You’ll need to enter a verification code sent to your email each time you sign in.

  • Core/Essential: May 26
  • Plus/Advanced: June 9
  • Pro/Expert: June 23

Log in with two-step verification

First, go to greenhouse.io. Enter your email, then password. After entering your credentials, you’ll be asked to add your verification code.

Email verification (required)

If you're using email verification, a code will be sent to your primary email address. Enter this code to login. If you don’t see the email, check your spam or junk folder. If you want to send your verification code to a different email address, you can change your primary email address.

SMS 2-step verification (optional)

If SMS verification is enabled, you can choose to receive your code via text message instead. If your organization uses SSO, you can add SMS two-step verification as an additional security layer.

Note: SMS two-step verification is not currently available for organizations in Greece, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates due to SMS limitations.

Change your 2-step verification email address

Your primary email address is used to log in and receives email verification codes.

To update your primary email, go to the Greenhouse Recruiting dashboard, then click your initials in the top-right corner. Select Account settings.

In the Personal information area, click tedit (pencil). Add your new email address.

Follow the prompts to verify your new email address. After updating, set your new email address as "Primary." You’ll use your new primary email address for login and verification.

Turn on SMS two-step verification for your organization (Site Admins)

Before users can configure SMS two-step verification on their own accounts, a Site Admin needs to activate the feature for the entire organization.

Go to Configure, then select Permissions. In General Settings, scroll to Users. Click Allow users to use SMS for two-step verification.

Turn on two-step verification for your user account

Once two-step verification is configured for your organization, you can enable it for your user account under the Account Settings page. (Your initials in the top right corner > Account Settings)

To turn on two-step verification, use the toggle switch on the right side of the page.

To verify your account, you'll have to enter a verification number. Enter the phone number you'll log in with, then click Verify your phone number.

Enter the verification code from your text message into the available field. When you're finished, click Save.

When two-step verification is enabled, the toggle switch will be green on your Account Settings page.

I am not receiving codes to log into Greenhouse

Typically, codes are sent within 10 minutes. If you have waited for longer than 10 minutes and not received a code, contact Greenhouse Technical Support
