How do I use the Chrome prospecting plugin?

Once you've installed the Greenhouse plugin, you will see the Greenhouse icon next to the address bar in your browser.

It looks like this:

(If you haven't added the plugin yet, click here to find it in the Chrome Web Store)

** Note: If you're using SSO to log into Greenhouse, you will need to adjust the settings of the extension. Go to Chrome > Preferences > Extensions. Locate the extension and click on Options. Please indicate that your company uses an SSO provider and provide the subdomain and Greenhouse hostname.

When you are prospecting and come across someone you'd like to add to Greenhouse as a Prospect, click the Greenhouse icon, and a side bar will open on the right side of the page.  Enter any desired information into the fields in the side bar (e.g. name, current title, current company, and the URL to the prospect's profile on that particular website or application).  There isn't a way to automatically pull that information over, unfortunately.  Here's why: LinkedIn's Scraping Software Policy.  If you'd like to add the person as a Prospect for a particular department or office, or a specific job, make the appropriate selection at the top of the side bar. When ready, click the Add this Prospect button at the bottom of the side bar.

Below is an example of what it looks like to import a profile from LinkedIn:

Here's what it will look like once saved to Greenhouse:

Hi Kim! In order to bring the candidate's photo over from LinkedIn, you'd need to first save the image, and then you'd have to manually upload it once you're viewing the candidate's profile page in Greenhouse. Unfortunately, it's not possible to automatically pull the photo over.

do you have to manually add their linked address to the profile?

Hi Virginia! No information is automatically pulled from the candidate's profile (per LinkedIn's TOS), so you'll need to copy over anything you want to show up in Greenhouse. This includes name, contact information, and LinkedIn URL. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Does this plugin currently prevent entering duplicate candidates while prospecting from LinkedIn or any other similar site?

    Hi Shawn,

If you're trying to import a potential duplicate (based on name and email), the prospecting plugin will alert you and give you the option to merge, add as a new candidate, or cancel.

    Best,
    Jeff

Do you plan to improve this functionality based on the recent ruling allowing companies to scrap publically available linkedin data?
