How do I generate my Referrer Link?

Each user in Greenhouse has access to his or her own unique Referrer Link, which can be accessed by taking the following steps:

  • Click "Hi, (YOURNAME)" at the top
  • Click My Info
  • Click My Referrer Link
  • Either copy and share the link to the entire job board, or select a specific job to generate its unique tracking link

When a friend or colleague applies through the generated URL, whoever sent the link will automatically get referral credit.

You can also generate a Referrer Link under your Dashboard tab here:

    Hi,

Is there any way of viewing if anyone applied via your referral link?

    Kind regards,
    Karina

Similar question to Karina's. If an employee posts a referral link and someone applies...is that employee notified of the action? How can a recruiter filter people who applied through an employee referral link. That filter likely exists but I can't seem to navigate to it. Thanks, James

Hi Karina and James! Thanks for writing in! When someone applies using your referral link, you will be notified via email. It will say "Candidate's Name has been referred for Job Title by You" As for filtering, you are correct! For the candidate's tab you can select the "Source" filter along the left hand side and scroll down to choose Referral. The referral filter will apply and to see who referred the candidate, you can go to: Referral's page --> Details --> Underneath Source Heading --> Referred by " " Best, Thai

Do Site Admins have access to this link? I don't see it.

    Hi Liz,

Yes! All users have access to this link! As long as you go into the "My Info" section, you should see the link at the top right hand corner. If you don't see the link in your profile, If you don't see it, please sent a screenshot to support@greenhouse.io!

We'll take a look into things!

    Kind regards,

Thanks. It showed up now. I think it's because I hadn't yet published the Job Board when I first looked for the link. Apparently, the Job Board needs to be published in order for the link to appear.

    Hi Liz!

You're correct! In order to access a tracking link, the Job Board will need to be live as well as the Job Post.

Let us know if you have any additional questions on this!
    Thanks,
    Jodi

    Hi there --

How can we filter between folks who have been added as referrals by our employees versus folks who have applied via these links. We are trying to tighten our referral policy and need to be able to distinguish between true referrals (vetted candidates) vs. those who stumbled upon links that our employees could have posted anywhere. Is it possible to change the source for these links? Can they be disabled?

    Thanks

Similar question here. If someone applies using my referral link, is there a way to also add more information, such as why I'd like to refer them?

    Hello Nina,

Thank you for reaching out about this! At this time, it is not possible to change the Source to which these Referrals are credited. When a candidate applies via a Referral Link, their Source will read as 'Referred by [User Name]'. However, in their Activity Feed, you'll see 'Candidate applied online to the [Position Name] job (Referral)'. This will allow you to distinguish between candidates who have applied via a Referral Link, rather than candidates directly added into Greenhouse via 'New Referral'.

You may want to advise your team to utilize the 'New Referral' specifically for vetted candidates, so that they can fill out the Referral form accordingly, and to use Referral Links only when attempt to cast a wider net to their networks, rather than to refer a specific vetted candidate.

    All the best,
    Mary

    Hello John,

Thank you for raising this question! Once a candidate has applied using your Referral Link, as a Basic User, you will not be able to add additional information about why you'd like to refer this particular candidate.

If there is a particular candidate you'd like to refer, where you feel it would be helpful to add additional context about why you're referring this person to this role, you may want to refer them via 'New Referral' in order to fill in details in the "Referral Notes" field.

    All the best,
    Mary
